Katie Read is Client Director at website design and graphics agency GEL Studios based in Swindon. Katie is also mum of 3 and mum to two step children. She’s busy juggling family life with her full-time career. We spoke to Katie to find out more about the thriving creative agency and find out what she loves doing when she’s not working...

Tell us all about GEL Studios

I have been working at GEL Studios for almost 7 years now. I started as a part time administrative assistant and worked my way up to client Director. I think most people know about GEL Studios and what we do so for me when someone asks about us it always comes back to our vision statement - 'Inspiring change, through creativity'. We love what we do, we have the most awesome team and we do the good work we do so we can give back to the community.

What are some of the services that you provide?

We are a full-service agency so anything from designing an eye-catching logo for your business, full brand workshops, messaging workshops, websites, support and everything related to digital marketing to increase your online presence and join businesses on their journey to work towards their goals.

Tell us about your team

We are a team of 9, soon to be 10. We have so much fun - we literally live by work hard and play harder. We like to think that as a team we have created a space and environment where people come first above everything. The team make GEL Studios what it is and it is our priority to ensure they are looked after and happy in their work life.

Has there been a particular business highlight in 2023?

I think we have had so many highlights it's hard to pinpoint one. We are growing and this year we took the team through a mindfulness programme where we can understand how we work and what our triggers are and also identifying those triggers within the team as we are all different. We have learnt how to be respectful with one another if and when we need to have hard conversations because ultimately, we are all here to do good and always being open and honest with one another and our clients is what we embrace.

Any exciting news to share for 2024?

A new exciting role! Our Project Manager will be joining us in the New Year and we have lots of exciting work with existing clients and some new clients who we can't wait to work with.

When you’re not busy working, what do you love doing in your time off?

Being a mum mainly - the children are growing up and don't need me as much as they did as Mummy but now, we get to go for coffee dates and shopping together.

Tell us about your favourite local restaurant

That is a tough one, but I think it has to be Fratellos! Amazing service, some really good memories and the food is delicious!
