Your Total Guide To Business

Bowman House (Business Sponsor)
Rachel Weaven

Rachel Weaven of face2faceHR is talking all things HR this September!

September is almost here – what will this month bring? This month we’re talking to business owners about their plans for September.

Today we're talking to Rachel Weaven, HR Consultant of face2faceHR. Rachel offers tailored, flexible HR solutions to small – medium sized businesses in and around the Swindon and Marlborough area.

How was your summer as we go into autumn? Any highlights for you or your business?
Throughout my time running my business I’ve noticed that people don’t worry too much about HR through the summer months. With companies operating on reduced staff due to the summer holidays I’m not needed as much.

This has worked well for me because I’ve been able to use this time to work on my business and spend time with my two daughters, however, as lovely as it was to have that time with them I’m also happy they’re back at school as it means we’re all back in routine and I can get back to business.

World Gratitude Day takes place this month (Sept 21). What are you grateful for in your business/at home?
There are lots of things that I am grateful for including having the time off with my daughters over the summer. I know that it’s not something that a lot of people are able to do so I’m very thankful that I get to have that time with them as they grow up.

I’m also grateful for the flexibility that running my own business has given me. I get to network with fantastic people and take the time to be with my family.

What are your hopes for business for the rest of this year?
The rest of the year is looking positive and there are a lot of things that I’m hoping to do. I’d like to run some events for businesses around inclusivity to ensure that moving forward every business is an inclusive business for all.

I’d also like to book some training sessions with supervisors on all things HR as it can be very daunting when you move into your first people management role.

Have you got any services you’d like to mention?
I’d love to offer my retained packages to businesses who don’t have in-house HR but are thinking that they should have someone, particularly businesses that are in the manufacturing sector as that’s where I spent a lot of my employed HR career.

And finally, September 30 is International Podcast Day. Do you listen to podcasts or do you have one of your own?
I’d love to do my own podcast on all things HR and it’s definitely in my future business plans. I believe it will allow me to reach a lot more people than I currently am and make them aware of the HR services that I offer.

I love listening to podcasts by people who are local to where I live as well as some of the funny ones from people like Chris Ramsay
