Julianne Ponan MBE

Julianne Ponan MBE of Creative Nature is sharing her plans for 2024!

It’s the start of a new year and businesses all over the UK are planning for growth and an exciting 2024. We’re talking to small business owners about their plans for the first month of the brand new year.

Today we're talking to Julianne Ponan who is founder and CEO of Creative Nature which is a Top 14 Allergen Free company with a range of baking mixes, confectionery, snack bars and superfoods. Creative Nature aims to make the world a safer and more enjoyable place for all food allergy sufferers.

What big things are you looking forward to in 2024?
There are lots of things that I am looking forward to this year. We have an array of amazing consumer and trade shows that we will be attending around the world. We also have some great campaigns going live this year which we hope to bring more awareness and education to the issue surrounding food allergies.

This year is a leap year. Does that mean anything to you? Are you a leap year baby?
I am not a leap year baby. I find it exciting though that we are gaining an extra day to the year!

Can you share your business ethics for 2024? How do you want your brand to come across?
This year at Creative Nature we are going to be doing a lot of awareness campaigns for issues within the sector of food allergies. I would like Creative Nature to come across as a brand that helps people with living with allergies from all angles, not just a brand that produces food but a brand that is trying to change the lives of those with allergies as well through awareness and education.

What are you planning to do differently or do better in 2024?
This year I would like to ensure that I start my day with a Zumba class. I started this last year and felt that it really helped my productivity but unfortunately stopped doing so, I would love to do this again.

Regarding business, this year I am being very conscious of spending and how as a company we can keep our costs down especially during a time where costs are just constantly going up. This is important to me for this year for my business.

This year we have implemented a lot more team bonding days and events. What I learnt from last year is that team days really helped my team work together and ultimately improved the way we were all working together in the office. It is a great way to get everyone working as one and not just for themselves.

What are you doing for charity or community this year?
I am an ambassador for a lot of charities which I am very proud to be a part of.  I will continue to be working for charities such as MedicAlert, Jessie May and the Anaphylaxis Campaign. I love working with these incredible charities.

There are multiple ‘awareness’ days & weeks & months in January 2024. Could you pick just one and say why you’ll be engaging with it?
The day that we will be focusing on is Veganuary. This year I will be taking a different direction with the awareness of Veganuary and calling out whether ‘vegan’ products are vegan. There is a massive issue with brands claiming to be vegan but have ‘may contain’ dairy and egg. This is false advertising and is also very dangerous for people that have food allergies and intolerances.
