PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Mansfield Town v Swindon Town

Good morning and welcome to another press conference live blog as we sit down with Swindon Town Head Coach, Ben Garner to preview tomorrow's trip to Mansfield Town. Join Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker from 10.25am as he brings you live press conference coverage.

11:00AM

That concludes today's press conference. Thank you for joining us.

11:00AM

Garner on Harry McKirdy:

"I don't know if he is the leagues most dangerous forward because I don't see all the other players. All I can comment is what he does for us and I think Harry is player that was at a crossroads in his career. He came in on trial and has taken the opportunity and is a really talented player. He needed to be loved and the pleasing thing is he has gone four games without a yellow card. He wears his heart on his sleeve and he is in wonderful form and hopefully he can continue that form through until the end of the season."

10:50AM

Garner on this week of matches:

"It is a big week but for us every week is big and between now and the end of the season every game is vital. Immediately after the City game our focus was on Mansfield and we need to make sure it is a positive performance."

10:49AM

Garner on tranfers:

"We have players we want to go after but we also have contingency plans with players that might leave. Ben Chorley has lists upon lists of players. We won't bring a player in just for having another squad number. We like to do our due diligence and we have done that with players so far and hopefully we can continue to do that in January."

10:47AM

Garner on club statement against racism v Man City:

"There is not a place for it in the game and it is ridiculous that we are having to have these conversations. Let's hope we can get to a place where this is eradicated."

10:46AM

Garner on players stats v Man City:

"We presented some good opportunities but in terms of physical output it wasn't that different from our League Two games, it was a different type of movement. The way Man City pin you back and move the ball side-to-side it is very difficult to not leave gaps. You have to learn from the best and there are lots of lessons we take from that."

10:44AM

Garner on Mansfield:

"Mansfield started the season well and when we played them at home I thought they played well. They dropped off but are now the in-form team with 9 wins in 10 and they are a good team. They pass the ball well and press as well as anyone in this division. I watched their game against Middlesborough at the weekend and 3 or 4 of their league games. They finished the game really well against Middlesborough and were unlucky at the end."

10:42AM

Garner on injuries:

"Harry is fine, he just had cramp and is fine. Jack Payne is doing well and he will do anything to get back quickly. We will no more about his injury back end of this week but he is doing well. Jonny Williams is fine and we have no issues."

10:40AM

Garner on Harry Parsons:

"We are going to assess Harry and it gives us a chance to look at him and Ricky Aguiar. If they can get regular playing time with us then great but I don't want to keep them here if they aren't playing. Chippenham has worked really well as a loan and we have the option of them continuing there. We will see what we bring in as well and players going out."

10:38AM

Garner on Emmanuel Idem:

"We see him improving quickly and he is comfortable with his feet and he is a very good shot-stopper. We wanted a third goalkeeper and he is young and hungry and we see the potential."

10:37AM

Garner on Jake O'Brien:

"Jake is a really talented centre-back and is highly thought of at Crystal Palace. He is athletic, quick, and is comfortable on the ball and will fit in with what we want to do. Patrick Viera wants Palace to play in a certain way and he is able to do that with us. I would like to think he will be a strong addition for us.

They wanted somewhere where he won't just defend and there will be clear patterns when he is in possession. He is available and ready and will definitely feature in the games this week. He has impressed on the pitch and in the gym and is a really explosive and powerful lad."

10:34AM

Garner on Alex Gilbert's departure:

"It was Brentford's decision to call him back and it was the right decision all round. He fell in between positions a little bit with the shape we play and we wish him all the best for his future."

10:33AM

Garner on Kesler-Hayden departure:

"We got a phone call on Saturday and they would like to call him back to see where he is and have him compete with their squad. We had a big hug and he was quite emotional. If Kaine can go back, challenge, and play in the Premier League for Aston Villa that is fantastic."

10:31AM

Ben Garner has now joined us.

10:30AM

Ben Garner will be with us shortly.
