Dr Carol Sargent

Dr Carol Sargent, of Sargent Group Consulting, shares why she's looking forward to 2024!

We’re halfway through January and the temperature has dropped dramatically. This month we’re talking to small business owners about their plans for the month and the year.

Today is the turn of Dr Carol Sargent, founder and consultant for Sargent Group Consulting, who open the world of travel and tourism for dementia community, older adults and people with visible and invisible disabilities by providing advice on how to overcome the barriers that stop people travelling and how to make travel and hospitality businesses more inclusive.

What big things are you looking forward to in 2024?
I am looking forward to being bolder and braver, so more people can understand why I feel so passionately about supporting the dementia community, older adults and people living with disabilities so we can all live our best lives through sharing what I have and continue to learn through personal experience and learning from inspirational people.

This year is a Leap Year. Does that mean anything to you?
My Granny was a leap year baby and her approach to life is something I realise I have inherited. I have her, boundless energy, a desire to be kind to people, to see the best in people and to feed people.

How does your organisation want to be seen in 2024?
Sargent Group Consulting want to be known as an organisation who:

  • Enable older adults, people living with dementia and those living with visible and invisible disabilities to overcome their worries and fears to have the confidence to travel.
  • Provide personal, evidence based, practical solutions to its clients.
  • Empower people to live their best lives and not feel excluded.

What are you planning to do differently in 2024?
As a business owner, in 2024, I plan to be bolder, be braver and to share more of myself in everything that I do.

What are you doing for charity or community this year?
I have become the co-chair of the Dementia Inclusive Community in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. Now that the Alzheimer’s Society are no longer supporting dementia friendly communities, I will be working with my co-chair Professor Jacqueline Parkes to support the roll out of our new local dementia strategy by the health and social care commissioning group.

Do you have any special offers for January or February 2024 you’d like to mention?
I am currently offering a FREE online booklet entitled Holidaying with Dementia – A 10 step approach which you can access by going to my website https://sargentgroup.consulting/dementia-travel-advice
