Swindon’s Arkell's Brewery Celebrates 180th Birthday with Community Celebration

One of Britain's oldest traditional breweries, Arkell's Brewery, is proudly celebrating its remarkable 180th birthday on Saturday 16th September.

Founded by John Arkell in Swindon in 1843, this family-owned brewery has remained true to its roots, preserving its brewing heritage.

John Arkell's vision and dedication in 1843 laid the foundation for a brewing legacy that continues to flourish today. From its humble beginnings, Arkell's Brewery now owns more than 80 pubs across Wiltshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire, and Hampshire, maintaining its commitment to producing exceptional beer and fostering a sense of community.

To commemorate this significant milestone, Arkell's Brewery is inviting the local community to join in a day of celebrations, filled with entertainment, music, and, of course, their renowned beer. It promises to be an epic day of celebration, where history meets the present, and friends and families can unite in the spirit of fun and community within the brewery grounds in Stratton St Margaret, Swindon. The event will run from 1pm – 7pm.

The stage will come alive with the sounds of many local bands including Mean as Custard and Locarno Beat. As the music fills the air, pick from eight of Arkell’s finest brews, featuring well-known cask beers like 3B and Wiltshire Gold along with keg favourites, Malthouse Craft Lager and Voyager American Pale Ale. Enjoy the melodies with a refreshing beer in hand, or opt for wine and Tom Savano handcrafted cocktails. There will also be great food options such as Bratwurst sausages, Greek selection, Pizzas, and local Organic Farmer, Helen Browning’s pork, and plenty of entertainment for all the family.
