Swindon Hub meets £5,000 fundraising target

The Swindon Hub has surpassed its fundraising target, thanks to the kind donations from individuals and businesses in the local area.

Earlier this month, The Swindon Hub launched a campaign that aimed to raise £5,000 by the end of November in order to keep the lights and heating on over the winter. With just over a week remaining of the crowdfunder, over £6,000 has now been raised, with the most notable donation coming from Sovereign Housing Association.

Based in the old River Island building in the heart of Swindon Town Centre, The Swindon Hub which opened in November 2021 is run by volunteers and is a safe and accessible space for the community to meet, work, play, discuss, learn and share resources.

Swindon Hub’s mission is to empower, promote cooperation and build connections within the community that help make Swindon a better place. This will help Swindon Hub continue to work to reduce or remove barriers that people may experience when using the space to ensure it is accessible, visible, inclusive and open to all. 

The donations Swindon Hub has received so far will allow it to keep a safe and warm environment available for all, to help organise more events that promote local shops, host a range of activities and workshops, and keep its café open.

Although the Swindon Hub target has been met, the crowdfunder will remain open until 28, November 2022. There is now a stretch target of £7000, if this amount is reached it will help Swindon Hub provide hot drinks and soup for free, to those in need through the winter too.
