Your Total Guide To Business

Louise Muir-Sage

Louise Muir-Sage, of Wellness Wiltshire, is excited for 2024!

As February comes to an end and Valentine’s Day has been and gone, February is known as the month of love – or historically a month of ‘new beginnings’. It’s also the 3rd month of winter and 2024 is a Leap Year so February has an extra day.

Today we’re talking to Louise Muir-Sage, a weight loss and addiction coach and reiki practitioner. Louise owns Wellness Wiltshire where she supports people with their relationships with food and alcohol to create the necessary changes to their habits that lead to a balanced life.

What do you love about running your own business or your role?
The things I love the most about running my business include:

  1. I get to do exactly what I love – helping people to make changes and enjoy their life again
  2. I bring my own personal lived experience to the table. I truly understand the cycles we go through with food and alcohol and that helps me continue to heal
  3. I have 12 years of experience in the weight loss industry and get to combine that with the emotional support needed to break the habits that people have got into.

What do you love about your business community/sector/or where you live?
Being in the wellness sector covers a wide variety of services and I’m in a place where I have the tools and knowledge, as well as the personal experience, to truly help people. I love that there is no judgement and people support me. There are many weight loss coaches, addiction coaches, and reiki practitioners out there and we all work differently. From a client point of view it means there is choice and I am more than happy to recommend other people if I believe they would be a better fit.

Is Valentine’s Day a ‘thing’ for you in your business?
Its not a 'thing' but at Wellness Wiltshire it really is about learning to love yourself as cheesy as it sounds. By dropping any guilt or shame you may carry associated with eating and drinking habits you can learn to love yourself again.

Is Valentine’s Day a ‘thing’ for you in your life?
This year my partner and I exchanged small gifts (chocolate because it's absolutely OK to eat chocolate even if you want to lose weight!) and cards. We didn't make a big deal of it.

We have an extra day this month. How will you be using your ‘extra’ day?
An extra day! We always ask for extra time and days, don't we? For me, it's just allowing me the chance to work with clients one extra day this year for which I am grateful.

Did you know that Feb 5 was the start of National Apprenticeship Week? Does this mean anything to you? Were you an apprentice? Do you employ apprentices?
Sadly not. For me apprenticeships are crucial in the working world to bring through new talent in businesses, especially in what many would consider more traditional roles and vocations. When I was at college, some years back, I wasn't really aware of apprenticeships, but for someone who learns better 'doing' I would absolutely have chosen that path.

February 4 was World Cancer Day – does this mean anything to you?
I believe World Cancer Day means something to everyone. I have two inspirational women in my life who have beat cancer. My mum and my friend Nessa. Sadly, I have also lost friends and family to this disease. Over the years I have fundraised for Cancer Research UK and I am glad there is more awareness around the symptoms of different cancers. The King as well as other influential people such as Jade Goody who we sadly lost in 2009, have really helped people 'get checked'.

February 17 was Random Acts of Kindness Day. Has anyone shown you, or your business, a random act of kindness over the last year?
I was randomly gifted a book of poems from my best friend of over 30 years. She'd even taken the time to write a very personal message in it. It means the world to me.

Are there any key moments or events within your business that you’d like to share during February?
This month I started working at Washbourne House Therapy Centre in Wroughton. Here I am able to hold beautiful Reiki Healing Sessions as well as hold client consultations. It's a big step but I am so glad I did it. Reiki is proving very popular.

Have you got any special offers for February or March that you’d like to mention?
I am currently offering Reiki taster sessions which last around 30 minutes for £20 as well as buy 3, one hour long reiki sessions and get the 4th FREE

On March 23rd I am hosting a Menopause Mastery retreat day alongside Helen Breward who is a clinical hypnotherapist.

Anything else you’d like to say?
I truly believe obesity and addiction cannot be cured, they can be controlled through true empathy and compassion. That's what I do through Wellness Wiltshire.
