HELLO 2021 & GOODBYE 2020!

As the year starts to turn – how are you feeling about 2021? 

I’m feeling optimistic about 2021 – so much has changed during 2020 and I think there will be even more change ahead for many of us. My business and the way I work has evolved and adapted in response to the new challenges and with every change, new and different opportunities have presented themselves.  

What are your business goals for the coming year? 

1. To continue providing the people of Bath and the surrounding areas with beautiful fine art photos capturing moments and special memories for them to treasure and love – even more important in light of the current situation. 

2. To continue working with the Royal Crescent Hotel offering their guests some tangible evidence of special memories.

3. To grow my commercial photography client base with businesses that recognise the need to improve their marketing and exposure with fresh visual content. 

Will you be introducing any new products or services? 

Yes definitely…’m already developing an exciting range of new products for my family commissioned shoots. I am also partnering with some wonderful new locations for my commercial clients.

Will you be looking for any new local suppliers in 2021? 

I always love collaborating with local businesses as I am passionate about supporting fellow small independents. I am particularly looking at extending my bespoke framing solutions with local artisans.

Are you looking to invest in yourself as a business owner or company director in 2021 in any way? 

Yes, definitely – I believe 100% in the constant continuation of my professional development and always have personal creative development projects running alongside this.  I also set myself a challenge every year to add a new skill to my repertoire and to invest in some form of training to help further my business.

Looking back across 2020 – name three highlights for you and your business? 

1. The amazing results of being really pro-active reaching out to other businesses during lockdown - I needed to keep shooting for my own sanity & in doing so I made connections with lots of amazing independent businesses who inspired and motivated me to continue adapting and evolving my own business.

2. Redesigning and launching my website which started as a lockdown project.

3. Being able to capture beautiful, positive memories for so many families of this incredibly strange year which will remind them of the good bits rather than the bad bits. 

Looking back across 2020 – were there any lowlights? How did you face them? 

-It was definitely the prospect in the first lockdown of all my shoots being postponed – but I managed to start a personal project and get out there and carry on shooting with a real purpose. 

This was my salvation and galvanised so much of my energy and offered me huge insights into how to reframe and pivot like so many other entrepreneurs.

Who, in your business community – have been the shining stars of 2020? 

Sarah Baker - SarahfromBath – I started following her on Instagram – she really is the champion of independents and I was lucky enough to meet her (and her gorgeous daughters) in the summer. She really is a powerhouse, hugely inspirational as well as being a really great gal.

Richard Edmonds Auctions – an amazing husband and wife duo, who are brilliant marketeers and lateral thinkers – it has been fantastic to collaborate with them.
