Excalibur Announce Sporting Dinner in Aid of RUH Bath

Excalibur are delighted to announce that they have arranged a Sporting Dinner in aid of their challenge to raise £50,000 this year for the teenage cancer ward at RUH Bath.

Taking place on Friday 27th June at Alexandra House in Wroughton, the dinner will see the local business community coming together to support an excellent cause.

The entertainment on the evening will not disappoint, with one of the most iconic figures in world rugby, Gareth Thomas as guest speaker. Gareth whose nickname is 'Alfie', represented Wales in both rugby union and rugby league and was the most capped Welsh rugby union player with more than 100 to his name.

Off the field, Gareth’s personal life hit the headlines in 2009 when he famously revealed to the world that he was gay. This makes him the only openly gay high profile sportsman in the UK. Since 'coming out', Gareth's profile has risen dramatically and in 2010 he was voted top of the Pink List for the 101 Most Influential Gay People in the UK.

Gareth is an ambassador for LGBT, a public supporter of ChildLine and recently launched a new workplace Diversity Management Training Programme. His speech on the night is set to be captivating, frank and heartfelt, definitely not something to be missed!

During the evening, guests will also be treated to a comedian, a charity auction to win some amazing prizes, plus some excellent food, drink and hospitality in the beautiful surroundings of Alexandra House and hosted by a guest compere.

Excalibur’s CEO James Phipps is hoping that with backing from the local business community, the event will be a sell-out, he commented, “We’re aiming to have a full house on 27^th June, especially given the level of entertainment, Gareth is an excellent speaker with not only an impressive sporting career but also some challenging and life-changing experiences.
