PREVIEW: Swindon Town vs Oxford United

Striker Jon Obika could be set to make his first Swindon outing in a month in the A420 derby against Oxford United on Sunday (12pm kick-off).

Obika last featured for Town in the 1-1 draw against Shrewsbury on January 5 and his head coach, Luke Williams, this week revealed that they hoped to have him involved in a light training session the day before the derby to asses the ex-Tottenham striker.

Williams only stated though that Obika has an "outside chance" of playing on Sunday.

Lloyd Jones will definitely be ok however. The Liverpool loanee limped out of the 1-0 loss to Bristol Rovers last weekend but it was nothing serious and, barring he survives the loan quota cutting, he is in line for a start.

At least two players on loan at the County Ground will not be able to play against the Robins' arch enemy Oxford due to there being a rule that Football League clubs can only name a maximum five loanees in a matchday squad of 18, while Swindon currently have seven temporary faces at the club.

Two of Jones, Fankaty Dabo, Rohan Ince, Ben Gladwin, Charlie Colkett, Nicky Ajose and Islam Feruz will therefore be left at home.

Brandon Ormonde-Ottewill is still being monitored to see if he's fit to play a full 90 minutes in what promises to be a high-intensity match at SN1. The former Arsenal trainee got an hour in a development match against Newport County during the week, a game Swindon won 3-2.

Swindon beat Oxford in the EFL Trophy on penalties (after drawing 1-1 in the regulation 90 minutes) whereas prior to that the Us had won six in a row in all competitions. Swindon have not beat Oxford in the league since 2001 with the last home victory coming in 2000.
