Swindon Town manager David Flitcroft is not considering an appeal for James Dunne's red

David Flitcroft is not considering lodging an appeal to the red card shown to James Dunne as he feels the midfielder did not act to the laws of the game.

Dunne was adjudged to have pushed Coventry midfielder Michael Doyle after the two had tangled challenging for the ball.

According to Flitcroft, Doyle kicked out at Dunne and Dunne reacted in the wrong way. Doyle was booked for his involvement in the altercation.

Although Flitcroft conceded that Dunne needed to behave differently, he was annoyed with referee Charles Breakspear and his assistants.

"No," he said when asked if he is considering lodging an appeal to the FA.

"There's four people that can witness what happened just before - four people: you've got the referee, the two assistants and you've got the fourth official and not one of them's seen it.

"He (Dunne)'s been antagonised and he's pushed him in the face but you're not allowed to do it, it's in the rules, it's the laws of the game - you can't do it.

"They're trying to stamp it out, I understand that, there's kids in the stand watching, but get the first bit right and that doesn't happen and I've said that to the referee - go in, stop it at source and doesn't happen, you don't get an aggressive (reaction), but he didn't do so.

"I've got to work with James Dunne on that and make sure next time he plays and he's disciplined enough not to do it."

Dunne will now serve a three-match ban which means he will miss the match against his former employers Cambridge on Saturday when they come to the County Ground.

As well as that, Dunne will sit out the back-to-back away matches at Cheltenham and Mansfield.
