Swindon Town have their EFL Trophy group finalised

Swindon Town have learned that the Premier League development team they will face in the EFL Trophy will be West Ham.

Last week, Swindon were drawn against Bristol Rovers and Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Trophy group stage, which will get underway in August.

They have now been joined by West Ham's Under-23 side.

Swindon progressed from the group stages last season, when they had Oxford United, Exeter and Chelsea's Under-23s, but they were knocked out in the second round after a 3-2 defeat at home to Luton Town.

Two teams progress from the group of four, with each team playing each other just the once.

You get three points for a win in 90 minutes, two points for a win in a penalty shoot-out, one point for a penalty shoot-out defeat and zero for a loss in 90 minutes. Penalties are played as soon as the 90 minutes are up, with no extra time.

Swindon Town will play West Ham at home the week commencing August 28, Wycombe at home on the week commencing October 2 and Bristol Rovers away the week commencing November 6.

West Ham's academy were in the EFL Trophy last season and finished third in a group that had winners Coventry, Wycombe and Northampton in it.
