What’s that? We’ve got some sunshine? Yes we do, and it’s set to last a few days. Here’s what’s coming up this weekend:
Brides Night Out
Friday, 6-9pm
Calling all brides-to-be! Enjoy a night filled to the brim with wedding accessories, ideas, tips and advice – whilst sipping on a glass of bubbly.
Bring your best friend, bridesmaid or Mum along for this fantastic event hosted by Love to Plan at the Marriott Hotel in Swindon.
Enjoy a glass of bubbly, a complimentary bag of gifts, and many pampering services, all for FREE.
All budding brides are granted free entry, whilst friends and family are charged at £3.
80s Roller Disco
Friday, 6pm-12:30am
Another chance for you to tie up the skates, and wheel around to great hits from the ‘80s at Swindon MECA.
After their previous sell-out events, expectations are high for this session – and with separate events for the Family and Over 18’s, there are no excuses to not get yourself involved.
The bars will be open throughout, and Domino’s will be on-site to line those stomachs and fill the appetites that create from all the disco-dancing.
Safety equipment and skates are available to hire for a small fee, and tickets to the night are just £5.
Dubs.Tek
Friday, 11pm-4am
Kick off the weekend with Dubs.Tek #32 at SUJU - there's something for every taste with 3 rooms, and a host of styles and DJ sets.
In the garden this week, you can also expect a live acoustic set from local artist Rhiannon Elliott.
Members are granted £2 entry before 1am, and this also applies to those who join their official Facebook event, otherwise entry is £5.
Roves Farm 20th Anniversary Fun Day
Saturday, 10:30am-5pm
Roves Farm has been a visitor centre for 20 years and it's celebrating with a special family fun day - with lots of competitions, games and fun for all!
Along with the normal tractor rides, animal activities and play facilities, there will be lots of extra activities on offer throughout the day including; welly wanging, minibeast mayhem, spinners, giant garden games, splat the rat, and so much more.
There will also be a whole host of craft and cookery competitions. These are open to everybody and first place entries will receive a small prize!

50 Cuts in 50 Hours
Saturday-Monday
Take part in the UK’s Biggest Endurance Charity Haircut event EVER!
Chris Miller, Style Director at Miller & Holland Hairdressing in Swindon’s Old Town is doing 50 haircuts BACK TO BACK over 50 hours in a bid to raise thousands for Tami’s Wish.
Tami’s Wish is an organisation set up to continue the work of Tami Brown, a Swindon girl who sadly lost her life to cancer in July 2012. Tami’s Wish is set to raise thousands for her 2 nominated charities, Yes to Life and The Prospect Hospice.
The event will start on the morning of Saturday 8th September at 9.00am and finish on Monday 10th September at 11.00am.
Cuts will be £50.00 each and you can now book your slot online. Be quick since places will go fast!
The Reggae Garden Festival
Saturday, 12-8p?m
After a successful launch in 2011 The Reggae Garden Festival is back, bigger and better than before - aiming to bring reggae culture to a new audience, stirring up a potent mix of positive beats, top live acts, and delicious soul food at Old Town’s Bowl and Gardens.
A great selection of live acts includes; Tippa Irie, YT, Friendly Fire Band, Lion Art, our local favourite AJ Live, and much more.
Soul food will be provided by Big Macs Kitchen; a Caribbean BBQ, jerk chicken, and curried goat.
PLUS, there will also be plenty for the children, including a bouncy castle, face painting and hair braiding.

Last Night Of The Proms
Saturday, 6:30pm
Swindon's Big Screen is screening the Last Night of the Proms live for the fifth consecutive year, and you can be there to enjoy for FREE!
Tickets to the Royal Opera House will set you back up to £1000, but you can take in the spellbinding performances from a special arena in Swindon town centre.
The show will be beamed back from The Royal Albert Hall with hundreds of revellers set to fill Wharf Green and enjoy what is a uniquely British occasion.

SUJU Sessions with Mr Nash
Saturday, 11pm-6am
A night of House and Dance Rockin' Beats from some of the club's much loved resident DJs, PLUS the Reggae Garden Festival 2012 After Party!
In the main room, find Mr Nash doing was he does best, accompanied by the guys from DISCOGIRO.
Upstairs, expect the usual beats and smooth r’n’b of DJ Chief, and out in the garden; the official after party to The Reggae Garden Festival 2012.
Entry is £2 before 12am with a Reggae Garden wristband, or FREE for SUJU members. Entry after 12am is £7, but discounted for members.
Social Bike Ride
Sunday, 10am
Free, professionally-guided weekly bike rides in and around Swindon. Perfect for all abilities, they're a great chance to get out with the family, make new friends, or just relax and discover the joys of cycling.
All routes are easy to ride and are targeted at people of average fitness rather than racing cyclists.
Most rides will be completed within 2 hours, but this will depend on the ability of the whole group and short cuts are available - no one will be left behind or asked to go faster.
This Sunday’s bike ride is in and Wootton Bassett. You’re advised to meet at the car park situated in Lime Kiln Leisure Centre. Please contact Swindon Travel Choices for further information.
Bandstand Marathon
Sunday, 1-5pm
Enjoy a jam-packed musical programme as part of the London 2012 Festival closing celebrations.
The Swindon Carers Centre's Bandstand Marathon event in will come alive with music on Sunday 9th September, marking the end of the London 2012 Festival and an amazing summer of sport and culture on the final day of the Paralympic Games.
It will be a truly memorable day, showcasing the best local talent and an eclectic musical programme including bands & individual musicians.
This FREE event offers everyone who comes along the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the nationwide finale celebrations for London 2012.
