Through the ages: Swindon Town v Crawley Town

SWINDON TOWN will be looking to secure back-to-back wins as they travel to Crawley looking to build on their win in mid-week. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi looks back at some previous clashes between the two.

Swindon and Crawley's first meeting came in 2010, but since then the pair have faced off a further 13 times. We take a look at three of these previous clashes.

1.) Swindon Town 3-0 Crawley Town - League Two, February 14th 2012

Paolo Di Canio's side hosted Crawley at SN1 in a crucial promotion clash and the game was fueled by the words exchanged by Di Canio and Crawley manager Steve Evans in the previous months which saw Evans label Town as a "circus."

Luke Rooney broke the deadlock from close-range after Allesandro Cibocchi's free-kick crashed off the post.

An exceptional long-range strike from Billy Bodin gave Town a second, before Paul Benson wrapped it up by adding a third which saw Town leapfrog Crawley in the table. Not bad for a circus team.

2.) Swindon Town 3-0 Crawley Town - League One, August 21th 2012

Swindon had a habit of beating Crawley 3-0, and it happened again as the two met once more in League One after the pair secured promotion from League Two the previous season.

Matt Ritchie grabbed Swindon's first, albeit a bit of a fluke, as his cross deceived everyone and found its way into the back of the net in the first half.

Tommy Miller made it two as he poked home from De Vita's knockdown before the Italian got on the scoresheet himself to make it 3-0 in the second-half.

The win was Swindon's first of the season, and just a week later, Town knocked Premier League Stoke City out of the League Cup.

3.) Swindon Town 1-2 Crawley Town - League One, February 21st 2015

Swindon were looking to keep the pressure on Bristol City, MK Dons and Preston at the top of League One, and were expected to run out winners against a Crawley side battling relegation, but it turned out to be quite the shock for Mark Cooper and co.

Anthony Wordsworth gave the visitors a dream start after five minutes as he slammed home from Gwion Edwards' cross.

However, Andy Williams' equaliser in the second-half restored parity and it looked like Town would go on and win the game. But just two minutes from time, a powerful strike from Gavin Tomlin gave Crawley a surprise win and saw Swindon hit a bump in the road in their automatic promotion hunt.
