Swindon Town sign Chelsea defender Dion Conroy
Swindon Town have completed the signing of Chelsea defender Dion Conroy.
Conroy, 21, has joined the Robins for an undisclosed fee and signs a two-and-a-half year deal at the County Ground.
He is a centre back and is eligible to face West Country rivals Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium tomorrow.
Earlier on this season he was on loan at Conference Premier outfit Aldershot Town, where he made 17 appearances, but he was recalled from his loan at the Recreation Ground earlier today.
Conroy has an FA Youth Cup winners medal to his name, which he won with Chelsea as well as the U21 Premier League.
The defender becomes Swindon's fifth signing of the January window, but the first permanent one following the arrivals of Ben Gladwin, Fankaty Dabo, Charlie Colkett, and Islam Feruz on loan.
Colkett, Dabo and Feruz will all know Conroy well having played with him in the Chelsea development squads.
Conroy did not feature for the Chelsea U23s when Swindon beat them 2-1 in the Checkatrade Trophy.
He has been given the number 25 shirt at Swindon.
