Swindon Robins 40 Poole Pirates 50: No revenge served at Wimborne Road

Swindon Robins were unable to complete their revenge mission against Poole on Wednesday evening, as they fell 50-40 to the reigning champions at Wimborne Road.

The Robins were made to rue a slow start at Wimborne Road as they conceded a trio of 5-1's in the opening three races.

Alun Rossiter's men responded well with two heat maximums of their own to get back within four points of the Pirates with six heats gone.

But with just one further heat advantage from the final nine races, the Robins were forced to leave Dorset empty handed.

Team boss Alun Rossiter described it as a frustrating night.

"I'm really disappointed in the end because a poor start has cost us and we should have left here with something tonight," said Rossiter.

"Jason (Doyle) was brilliant at No.1 as always and I'm happy with the reserves as well.

"Our middle order know they are much better than what they scored tonight and we need them to start packing the points in again.

"These are two very important meetings coming up at home and away to Leicester and we need to be getting points on the board to make sure we stay in a good position."

Skipper Jason Doyle recovered from a frustrating first outing to reel off four straight wins on another super night for the Robins No.1.

Charles Wright and Stefan Nielsen had a steady night at reserve as they chipped in with five points apiece.

That would be the same total for Josh Grajczonek and Nick Morris too on an up and down night for the Australian duo.

Rohan Tungate and Justin Sedgmen both endured tough nights but they'll be keen to bounce back by helping the Robins return to winning ways at home to Leicester on Thursday.

POOLE 50: Chris Holder 12+1, Hans Andersen 9+1, Krzysztof Buczkowski 7+2, Brady Kurtz 7+1, Bjarne Pedersen 6, Steve Worrall 5+1, Kyle Newman 4+2.

SWINDON 40: Jason Doyle 13, Charles Wright 5+3, Nick Morris 5, Stefan Nielsen 5, Josh Grajczonek 5, Rohan Tungate 4, Justin Sedgmen 3+1.
