Preview: Swindon Robins seek Poole Pirates revenge

Swindon Robins have the opportunity to strike back this evening against Poole Pirates, and make amends for the bank holiday defeat at the hands of Neil Middleditch's men. The two sides come head-to-head at Wimborne Road tonight, race tapes up at 7.30.

The M&S Van Rental Robins saw their six-meeting unbeaten run brought at an end with a narrow 46-44 defeat against the Pirates at the Abbey on Monday.

However, Alun Rossiter’s side will now aim to bounce back in style in the return fixture in Dorset ahead of a hectic few days.

The Robins will be back in home action against Leicester on Thursday before taking on the Lions at Beaumont Park on Saturday.

Team boss Rossiter has called on his side to pick themselves up and respond as they aim to get back to winning ways as soon as possible.

Despite suffering a heavy defeat at Wimborne Road in their season-opener back in March, Rossiter insists they are capable of adding to their Elite League points tally against the Pirates.

“We’re in the middle of a busy period,” said Rossiter. “It was a shame to lose against Poole on Bank Holiday Monday in what we always knew was going to be a close meeting, but we’re not going to let that result ruin a promising run for us.

“I had a team talk with the riders straight after the meeting, and I want them to keep their heads up when we go to Poole, where we are capable of getting something.”

The Robins will be unchanged from their clash at the Abbey on Monday, whilst Poole have drafted in former Swindon star Steve Worrall to guest for the injured Adam Ellis.

POOLE: Chris Holder, Steve Worrall, Krzysztof Buczkowski, Bjarne Pedersen, Hans Andersen, Brady Kurtz, Kyle Newman.

SWINDON: Jason Doyle, Josh Grajczonek, Rohan Tungate, Nick Morris, Justin Sedgmen, Charles Wright, Stefan Nielsen.
