Rose: We can't let bad results fester

SWINDON TOWN suffered just their second league defeat of the season at the hands of Colchester United on Tuesday night, as the U's ran out 3-0 winners at the County Ground. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi spoke to Swindon midfielder Danny Rose following the loss.

A goal from Tom Eastman and a brace from former Town loanee Theo Robinson condemned Swindon to defeat at SN1 as John McGreal’s Colchester proved to be the surprise package.

Speaking on Swindon’s performance, Danny Rose insisted that the first goal on the stroke of half-time had a big impact on the outcome of the game.

"Obviously conceding just before half-time, the timing of it isn't great,” said Rose.

“They go in at half-time with their tails up and we got to deal with disappointment which we didn't deal with well enough tonight.

"You can concede a goal or you go behind in any game, it's how you react.

"We didn't do the habits or the things that have got us into the position before this game well enough and consistent enough,” he said.

"We sort of forced our play without it being free-flowing. You saw the game we've played in recent weeks and the combinations we've had and how well they've worked for us.

"We'll put it down to a bad day at the office and move on swiftly,” Rose added.

Following a lengthy injury lay-off, Rose - 31 - has now got a string of four consecutive games under his belt, and the midfielder feels he's stronger than ever at Town.

"I feel good and stronger, fitness-wise, in each game I've played. I think that's four in a row for me which is great personally in terms of getting back into the team," said Rose.

"Hopefully I can play as many games as possible and have an influence on the team that I've had in the last few weeks.

"We've got a good squad, and the manager will look at the squad after a poor result and a poor performance and if he feels there has to be changes then so be it,” he added.

"We're all together. That's football and we've all been there before but the lads that have got us into this position in the last couple of weeks have done great but we have to go again.

"We need to do the right habits as the basics of the game we didn't do well enough tonight and if we do that on a more consistent basis that's why we've got the results we have,” said Rose.

After the loss to Colchester, Swindon have now picked up 19 points from their nine league games so far, but Rose insisted that it could've easily been more, but insisted that with a long season ahead there will plenty of chances to pick up points.

"It's not bad a bad return so far. We look at the games we've had so far, tonight we deserved to lose,” stated Rose.

"There are other games you look at such as Cheltenham and Exeter.

"Against Exeter, we played well on the day and probably should've had all three points and Cheltenham were there for the taking.

"Tonight was our worst performance of the campaign so far but we can't let it fester. We have to deal with it and we'll come in bright and bubbly tomorrow,” he said.
