PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town (0) v (3) Colchester United

SWINDON TOWN had a night to forget as they suffered a 3-0 drubbing at the hands of Colchester United. A Theo Robinson brace and a goal from Tom Eastman saw the U's put Swindon to the sword. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi gave his Robins player ratings.

GK: Luke McCormick (5)

Made a good stop from a corner after 28 minutes to keep the score level.Couldn't do much about Colchester's opener, but should've done better at keeping out the visitors second. Distribution was fairly poor and his performance would've done no harm to Steven Benda's chances of starting Town's next game.

RB: Rob Hunt (6)

Was nowhere near as involved as he was on the weekend, but didn't necessarily have a poor game. Would've liked to have got on the ball more but passes often favoured Iandolo over the right-back.

CB: Dion Conroy (6)

His array of passing capabilities was on show in the first-half. However, the defence as a whole did have some shaky moments and failed to clear their lines on a number of occasions. Conroy and Broadbent both had trouble dealing with Colchester's blistering attack who bullied them on occasions.

CB: Mathieu Baudry (5.5)

The Frenchman did once again have a few shaky moments from playing out from the back but looked okay defensively before being subbed off due to injury in the first-half.

LB: Ellis Iandolo (7)

He's bulked up in pre-season which has helped him do his defensive duties and he tried to create openings but often to avail. Looks to be a much better player this season, and gives Zeki Fryers stiff competition.

RM: Lloyd Isgrove (6.5)

A constant threat in the first 20 minutes as the fan-favourites tricky dribbling and movement caused problems for the Colchester defence but his crosses mostly failed to meet Doyle or Yates. Wasn't involved much in the second as Town looked to have run out of ideas.

CM: Anthony Grant (7)

Impressed once again. The lack of pre-season clearly hasn't affected him too much as he dominated most of his midfield battles. Does the basic things well.

CM: Danny Rose (6)

Was fairly average if unspectacular. Had a few frustrating moments where he should've got the ball out of his feet quicker. Made way for Michael Doughty on the hour-mark.

LM: Keshi Anderson (6)

Anderson has looked a changed man this season but was fairly average tonight. His pace and dribbling drew fouls from the Colchester defence but he didn't threaten too much. Was substituted for Kaiyne Woolery with 20 minutes left.

ST: Eoin Doyle (6)

Missed a big chance early in the second-half from close-range to level proceedings. Often found himself out wide crossing the ball, but this mostly proved ineffective. Not the best night for the Irishman but he wasn't terrible.

ST: Jerry Yates (6.5)

Worked tirelessly pressing as the Rotherham loanee looked to try and be a nuisance for the Colchester defence. Didn't have the service he's enjoyed in recent weeks and he looked to create his own chances with Town looking off the pace tonight.

SUBSTITUTIONS

Tom Broadbent (5)

Replaced Baudry after 34 minutes. Looked a little uneasy at the back with a few poor headers and misplaced passes. Should've done better with his closing down for the third goal. After what was a promising start to life at Swindon, Broadbent's looked to have fallen off a little bit.

Michael Doughty (6)

Came on for Danny Rose with 30 minutes left as Wellens looked at Doughty to change the game. However, in his first game back from suspension, he failed to be the spark that Swindon needed to get back into the clash.

Kaiyne Woolery (6)

Came on for Keshi Anderson.with 20 minutes left in Wellens' last throw of the dice. Made a few nice runs but they came to nothing.
