Taylor, who signed on a free transfer, has been given the number 31 shirt by boss Dave Flitcroft and is expected to be deployed mainly as a centre midfielder while in Wiltshire.
Swindon will be without Johnny Goddard, however, who remains on the sidelines with a foot injury that he picked up on the opening day when Town beat Carlisle 2-1 at Brunton Park.
Right-back Kyle Knoyle, who signed from Premier League West Ham during the summer, remains out too. He is yet to make to an appearance for Swindon due to his injury.
No date has been given for the return for either of Goddard or Knoyle.
Crawley meanwhile will be without midfielder Jimmy Smith and defender Mark Connolly.
On the pitch: Swindon are top of League Two with seven points from a possible nine, while visitors Crawley are on the other end of the spectrum - rock-bottom and pointless under new manager Harry Kewell.
Swindon and Crawley have only ever met eight times in the league with Town having a record of three wins, three draws and two defeats against the Red Devils, with six of those games coming in League One.
The other two were both in League Two, and provided two of Swindon's three wins, which were both 3-0 under then-boss Paolo Di Canio.
The Robins have not won against Crawley since a third 3-0 win in August 2012 in which Matt Ritchie, Tommy Miller and Rafa De Vita got the goals.
