PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: SWINDON TOWN V PORTSMOUTH

Good afternoon and welcome to Total Sport Swindon's live blog from today's Swindon Town press conference as they prepare to welcome Portsmouth to the County Ground tomorrow evening. Join our reporter Ryan Walker from 12.15 as he brings you updates from the first Swindon press conference since John Sheridan departed, as we speak to Tommy Wright and Scott Twine.

12:40PM

That concludes today's press conference.

12:40PM

Twine on issues at the club:

"I don't know what's going on and it doesn't effect me.

It's not my concern as far as I'm aware. There is four games left and I;m here to get as many points as possible."

12:39PM

Twine on season to date:

"There's no one person who is to blame.

It's everyone and we all have to look at ourselves. I don't think anyone can be happy with themselves.

No one has done enough and that's why we are where we are."

12:38PM

Twine on his future:

"There is no update at the minute. I just have to concentrate on football.

I haven't heard anything from other clubs.

I want to continue at Swindon and I'm just concentrated on the football."

12:36PM

Twine on Sheridan's departure:

"It was probably one of the lowest I have ever seen the group after the game and at half-time.

It's as you would've expected getting beat four-nil by a team near us in the table. Everyone was down and we now need to try our best.

We got told after the game about the gaffer leaving and everyone was just down about everything.

We won't give up and feel sorry for ourselves."

12:34PM

Twine on personal achievements:

"It's not really that important given where we are in the table. We can't celebrate individual achievements.

No one can be happy with how they have played."

12:33PM

Twine on his positioning:

"I'm not fussed where I play, I just like playing and if you play then you have to earn the right to stay in the team.

If the manager asks me to play any position I will try my best in it.

There isn't just one position I want to play."

12:32PM

Twine on Swindons survival hopes:

"It's not been easy, the position we are in now hurts me more than anyone.

Whether we can save the season I'm not sure. We have to try our best, dig deep and try to get something tomorrow.:

12:31PM

Twine on season run-in:

"We're down the bottom for a reason and we deserve to be because we aren't picking up points.

It's certainly not good enough and everyone at the club knows that.

We have to win individual battles tomorrow, if we all play well then we have a chance."

12:30PM

Twine on Saturday defeat:

"It wasn't good enough from start to finish and when they were four-nil up the results was never going to change.

No one in a Swindon shirt can say we were good enough. We as players tried to get those important wins in the past week and to come away with nothing is shocking and not acceptable.

We have to go out and try to get some pride back for the club and ourselves."

12:28PM

Tommy Wright has now left us. Scott Twine has joined us.

12:24PM

Wright on Portsmouth:

"They are very organised, a strong team and are a good team pushing for the playoffs.

They aren't unbeatable and we have to play well."

12:23PM

Wright on team selection:

"Tom Broadbent and Jordan Lyden were miles away on Saturday. They weren't the only ones though.

Not a lot has changed with injuries, Rob Hunt doesn't feel right, Baudry is fit but not available. Dion Conroy had surgery today.

Paul Caddis picked up an injury and isn't available. Akin Odimayo has to see a specialist about his knee at the end of the week."

12:21PM

Wright on survival hopes:

"It's possible but we have to do a lot better defensively.

We have to defend better as a team, we create chances but we have let too many poor goals in.

The back four has changed too much and that hasn't helped. There is reasons why we are in this position but I'm not here to make excuses.

We haven't been good enough this season."

12:20PM

Wright on uncertainty:

"I don't know what is going on at the club and there is a lot of uncertainty.

The club is being sold, the club isn't being sold, I try not to get involved in everything going on."

12:19PM

Wright on difference in coaching:

"Everyone has their own thoughts and at this moment in time I am looking to get the fittest and quickest players on the pitch.

I'll try and bring that tomorrow with the players we have available.

They are professional footballers and have to have a bit of pride. Run harder than Portsmouth, compete better than Portsmouth and we can win the game."

12:18PM

Wright on his decision to stay:

"I spoke to Lee Power and said I will stay and help the club out.

There isn't a big coaching set-up here and we've Brough Lee Peacock into help.

We don't have any other coaches here so I needed some help and for the last 4 games it is about pride for the club and the players.

We are all guilty and all have a hand in this season. They have to look at themselves."

12:16PM

Wright on Sheridan's departure:

"He felt he wasn't having an effect and Saturday was the best time to go.

He just said he had had enough and I think when you do it a second time there is no going back.

He told the players and then came out to the media.

The reaction was quiet after the performance and it was quiet on the bus home and in the dressing room."

12:15PM

We are in the zoom call and Tommy Wright has joined us.
