PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: AFC WIMBLEDON V SWINDON TOWN

Good morning and welcome to Total Sport Swindon's live blog as we bring you full update from Swindon Town's pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to AFC Wimbledon in League One tomorrow. Join our reporter Ryan Walker from 11.45am as he speaks to manager John Sheridan and midfielder Anthony Grant.

12:35PM

That concludes today's press conference.

12:35PM

Sheridan on club stopping communication with Supporters Trust:

"Being honest I don't get involved in all that.

I've got more things on my plate to deal with and I'm just trying to get the results and the points to keep this team in the division.

I've got to concentrate on the team as much as I can.

Supporters are the most important people at any football club."

12:33PM

Sheridan on his Swindon career:

"I'm not someone to make excuses but we have had so many injuries, our back four has been all over the place, and that's something I don't like to mess about with.

When you're losing it's difficult with every manager. Every manager knows how good the job can be when you're winning and how hard it can be when you're losing.

I didn't come here to fail but if we get relegated then it's been a failure.

Over the last 15 years Swindon have been going up and down too many times and a bit of a yo-yo club. It's a big club and I came here to hopefully stabilise them and keep Swindon in the league.

At this moment in time that hasn't worked out how I planned.

I've kept team's up before so it is possible and we just have to go to Wimbledon tomorrow and show our best form of the season."

12:30PM

Sheridan on Wimbledon being season-decider:

"If all the teams at the bottom get beat then we're still in with a shout.

Each game that we don't get points it makes things more difficult."

12:29PM

Sheridan on getting best out of players;

"In certain games I think I get the best out of players but not on a consistent basis. We've shown good form at times but overall it hasn't been good enough."

12:22PM

Sheridan on playing later in day:

"We will see the results kicking off later and that will give us an incentive if we see the results and know a win gets us back in the mix.

I can't predict results in this league. We need to go and win the game ourselves."

12:22PM

Sheridan on Mark Robinson:

"I might've come across him somewhere but I don't know him too well.

His aim is to keep the team in the division and he has done well.

I respect him and I expect a tough game."

12:20PM

Sheridan on Wimbledon:

"They are aggressive and have picked some good results up lately, same as Wigan and Burton.

They have strikers who put themselves about and we have to defend a lot better than we have done recently.

We have to put our dominance on the game and have to keep the ball out of our net.

Possession wise we are as good as most teams but we don't show it consistently.

The manner of the goals we concede is our biggest downfall."

12:16PM

Sheridan on picking each other up:

"I don't want to see I ton the training ground, I want to see it on the pitch and those 90 minutes on a Saturday are the most important time.

You can be the quietest trainer but the loudest on the Saturday.

We have to push ourselves and we haven't done enough.

As manager I have to take full responsibility. With 5 games to go I think we can stay up."

12:14PM

Sheridan on mood around squad:

"We've got to lift ourselves and with 5 games to go there is still an opportunity to stay up.

I'm upset and beat up that we are losing.

It's about performing on the pitch and whilst we still have a chance we have to believe in ourselves.

We still have an opportunity to stay in the league."

12:12PM

Sheridan on injuries:

"It will be the same squad as the other night but with Jordan Lyden fit and available."

12:12PM

John Sheridan has now joined us.

12:09PM

Anthony Grant has now left us, John Sheridan will be joining us.

12:09PM

Grant on Swindon being in relegation zone:

"I am surprise but you can never be too good to go down.

I understand when people say we have players that are too good to go down but it's about applying yourself every Saturday and Tuesday."

12:07PM

Grant on relationship with Sheridan:

"He's come in, it's hard coming in to a team leaking goals, then you stop, and then you start leaking goals again.

He's tried his best and he's working with what he's been given.

He's just got to keep pushing forward."

12:06PM

Grant on playing in defence:

"Wherever you get asked to play it's in the best interests of the team.

If they ask me to play midfield tomorrow then you have to try and set the tempo and get on the front-foot."

12:00PM

Grant on mood around club:

"You can't be in the dumps all the time and you have to enjoy ir.

When it's time for business you need to go out and perform.

There's ups and downs. "

11:58AM

Grant on his career to date and playing 600 games:

"It's a nice achievement but I'm not really thinking about it."

11:58AM

Grant on Wimbledon:

"They like to mix it up, play well and have two strikers in form.

We need to stop them scoring and put the ball in the back of the net.

We go out to win every game, we play later than everyone else so hopefully the team that goes out there can produce the goods.

We just need to concentrate on us and stop worrying about anything else."

11:54AM

Grant on Swindon's identity:

"Our identity is getting crosses into the box with Brett Pitman in the box.

It depends how the game is going though and it depends on the opponent and what the manager wants.

It's different circumstances to last year and it's different for us.

This year, you're fighting for survival and the football can't always be pretty but you get wins.

It's about results right now, not about how pretty we play."

11:53AM

Grant on defeat to Rochdale:

"It was a game we didn't want to lose and it hit the squad hard.

We're not relegated yet and every game we go into we have to give our all.

The challenge is to pick yourself up and start grinding out wins.

It's not just up to me to lift the squad, I go our and train and if you get picked play to the best of your ability."

11:51AM

Anthony Grant has now joined us.

11:49AM

Last time out saw Swindon lose 2-1 away to fellow relegation contenders Rochdale as the Robins slumped further down the table, now sitting four points off of safety.

11:45AM

We will be speaking to both manager John Sheridan and midfielder Anthony Grant shortly. But first let's take a look back at the loss to Rochdale and look forward to tomorrow's clash against Wimbledon.
