PLAYER RATINGS: Swindon Town (4) v (0) Cambridge United

SWINDON TOWN produced their best home performance of the season as an Eoin Doyle penalty and hattrick from Keshi Anderson secured a four-nil victory over Cambridge United at the County Ground this afternoon. Total Sport Swindon's Ryan Walker gives his Robins player ratings following the match.

GK: Steven Benda (7)

Had little to do against a disjointed Cambridge attack but stayed alert throughout to make saves when called upon.

RB: Paul Caddis (7.5)

Got forward well and delivered the diagonal cross to Woolery that led to Swindon’s second goal. Defended well against the pace of Cambridge’s Paul Lewis and was rarely caught out of position. Caddis has been offered a contract until the end of the season after impressive performances in the Town shirt and it is expected that he will sign his new deal.

CB: Mathieu Baudry (C) (7.5)

Struggled to deal with the long ball at times and was nearly embarrassed after Sam Smith outmuscled him from a goal-kick in the first-half before firing a shot on target at Steven Benda. Cut a confident figure when on the ball and his ability to step up into midfield when in possession allowed Town to commit more attackers forward. A good all-round performance from the defender.

CB: Gabriel Zakuani (7.5)

Back in the side after a long spell on sidelines saw Zakuani enjoy a relatively uneventful outing against a Cambridge side low on confidence. Partnered Baudry well at centre-back and had little to deal with throughout the ninety minutes. Won the majority of his aerial duals and didn’t look out of place.

LB: Ellis Iandolo (8)

A brilliant display from Iandolo saw the youthful full-back attack with intent throughout as he got the better of his opposite number time and time again. Delivered some brilliant crosses into the box and had the ability to take his man on both on the outside and the inside to create space in dangerous areas. Was resolute in defence throughout to produce a terrific performance.

CM: Anthony Grant (7)

A mixed performance saw Grant get around the pitch in his usual fashion, breaking up play and helping Swindon to break forward well but at times he was poor in possession and was overrun in midfield at various stages. A solid performance but not the best he has had in Swindon colours.

LCM: Michael Doughty (7)

Was creative in midfield and the main link between Swindon’s attack and defence. Covered lots of ground and kept popping up in dangerous positions. At times lacked accuracy with his passing and missed a great chance to get a shot on target in the first-half after being picked out on the edge of the box but missed the ball with his shot.

RCM: Keshi Anderson (10)

Hattrick hero and a terrific all-round performance from the 24-year-old. Was a constant thorn in Cambridge’s side all afternoon and took his goals brilliantly to help Town wrap up all three points. Produced a delicate finish to score his first goal, rifled home a powerful effort to convert his second from long-range and had a simple tap in for his third goal. A brilliant performance from Anderson that saw him double his goals tally for the season this afternoon (six goals).

LW: Jerry Yates (7)

A determined effort but no goal to show for his efforts. Ran tirelessly to help win possession back for Swindon and was solid in his defensive duties as well when called upon. Nearly scored in the second-half after Doyle’s low cross into the box but was denied by some good defending.

RW: Kaiyne Woolery (7)

A positive performance from Woolery saw him attack relentlessly down the wings as he utilised his pace to consistently get the better of his opposite number. Produced some good crosses into the box that couldn’t be converted and nearly scored in the latter stages of the game when his shot flashed across the face of the Cambridge goal.

ST: Eoin Doyle (7.5)

Converted from the penalty spot in the 4th minute to score his 22nd goal of the season and make it eleven consecutive games to have scored in. Held the ball up well throughout and worked hard to cover ground and win the ball back for Town high up the pitch. Interchanged with Yates on the wing at times to put some good crosses into the box.

SUBSTITUTIONS:

Lloyd Isgrove (6.5)

Introduced with the scoreline at four-nil and managed a couple of decent runs down the right-wing to help create goalscoring opportunities. Wellens has stated that Isgrove needs minutes to get back to fitness and today would’ve helped.

Danny Rose (6)

Played twenty minutes and had little to do against a deflated and downtrodden Cambridge United. Looked comfortable in possession against a side that were already beaten when he came on.

Taylor Curran (N/A)

Introduced late on and didn’t have time to make a difference.
