MATCH PREVIEW: Swindon Town v Mansfield Town

SWINDON TOWN host Mansfield Town on Saturday as Richie Wellens' side look to register their fifth league win in a row and keep their place at the top of the League Two table. Total Sport Swindon's Rajan Hothi previews the clash.

Swindon ran out 3-2 winners at Salford City in their last league outing but suffered mid-week cup disappointment as they were dumped out of the FA Cup in the first round as League Two rivals Cheltenham Town secured a one-nil victory at the County Ground.

Alex Addai's strike was enough for Cheltenham to secure their passage through to round two, but Swindon have now won their last four games in the division which sees the Robins top the league - however, Bradford City and Cheltenham both have two games in hand over Town.

Mansfield are the side tasked with preventing Swindon from winning their fifth league game in a row, but the Stags have failed to build on last season in which they finished 4th in League Two.

John Dempster replaced the sacked David Flitcroft, but the 36-year-old has found his first managerial venture difficult with Mansfield currently occupying 14th spot in the division, and despite another summer of heavy spending, it has not been a good opening few months to the season for Mansfield.

The Stags drew 0-0 to a Macclesfield side in turmoil last time out, and pressure is starting to mount on Dempster. However, they can boast the fourth-best away record in League Two which could prove useful against a Swindon team susceptible to a slip-up at home.

Dempster's side are unbeaten in their last five league games on the road, but they will have the mammoth job of keeping the division's top goalscorer Eoin Doyle quiet.

The 31-year-old was cup-tied for Tuesday night, but he has already notched 16 goals this season, as well as scoring nine goals in his last six games for Town.

Anthony Grant was also unavailable for the Cheltenham clash, and the 32-year-old should slot back into the midfield where he has impressed since signing.

Mansfield's back-line will have to deal with Doyle's strike partner, Jerry Yates, as well, with the Rotherham-loanee managing to bag an impressive tally of nine goals this season since arriving from South Yorkshire in the summer.

The 23-year-old's work has perhaps gone under the radar, but Yates has proved himself to be an instrumental player in Wellens' system.

Swindon won't have to worry about the Stags' top goalscorer Danny Rose, who has managed to score seven goals so far this season, after Dempster confirmed that he will be sidelined for up to four weeks with a hamstring strain.

However, Town's defence will still have to contain Nicky Maynard who snubbed Swindon for Mansfield in the summer. The 32-year-old played an integral role in Bury's promotion last season, and he finished the season with 20 goals highlighting just how potent he can be in front of goal at this level.

Swindon have leaked the joint-most amount of goals in the top seven and Maynard will be confident in adding to his tally of six goals this season, but with the firepower Town posses, his goals might not be enough.

Saturday presents the perfect chance to bounce-back from the disappointment on Tuesday, and Wellens' side will fancy their chances against a Mansfield team under pressure as Town look to maintain their position as the league leaders.

Prediction: 2-1
