Aston Villa's Louie Barry joins Swindon Town on loan

Aston Villa academy product Louie Barry has joined Swindon Town on-loan until the end of the season and becoming Swindon's 4th signing of the January transfer window. Total Sport Swindon has more on the deal below.

18-year old Louie Barry has become the latest addition to Swindon Town's squad after the attacker joined Ben Garner's side until the end of the season.

Held in high regard by fans, pundits, and teammates alike, Barry joined Barcelona's famous La Masia academy in 2019 before being sold to Aston Villa a year later.

Most frequently playing as a striker, Barry was a key part in Villa's Youth side that lifted the FA Youth Cup last season before being sent on loan to Ipswich at the start of the 21/22 season.

Barry struggled to settle at Portman Road, making just six appearances and joins Swindon looking to secure regular first-team football.

Earlier today, Swindon Town Head Coach praised Barry's ability saying:

“I like Louie and know him historically from West Bromwich Albion. He is a fantastic talent who I’ve seen a lot of,” said Garner.

“He’s a player that is very very talented and we want to bring talented players to this football club and the right players.
