Total Swindon's Highlights of 2016
As December draws to a close, we wanted to take a moment to look back at what a year 2016 was. There was certainly lots to get excited about and lots to remember. Here are our highlights!
Highlight: Swindon turns 175 years old
About: It's official, Swindon was born as a railway town 175 years ago in 1841. A whole year of events was planned by Swindon175 to celebrate the landmark year, as well as shining a light on our heritage and where Swindon goes from here.
Highlight: Better Extreme Trampoline Park opens.
Highlight: Britain votes to leave the European Union.
About: A nation was divided as the EU Referendum offered an 'in' or 'out' vote on our inclusion in the European Union. As we won't know the true implications of the decision to leave for years to come, luckily we had some expert advice from BusinessWest, Thrings and Banks BHG.
Highlight: 'Total Guide to' continue supporting Bath Rugby
About: With the start of a new season, we once again showed our love of Bath Rugby by sponsoring Bath born-and-bred forward, Kane Palma-Newport, for the fourth season. We couldn't wish for a nicer man representing us and our team!
Highlight: Swindon Half Marathon rises from the ashes
About: After the sad news that Swindon Half Marathon would not go ahead due to lack of funds, the much-loved event was cancelled. However a comittee of people, including representatives from Total Swindon, Run, 121 Fitness and DC Injury Clinic got together to hatch a plan. Fast forward a few short months and the New Swindon Half Marathon was born. Looking to run in September 2017.
