Swindon's newest railway station set to open on Sunday 31st July.

This family day will see the first official train stop at the new station with a ribbon cutting by Swindon South MP, Robert Buckland and the unveiling of the new sign to mark the official opening of the station.

There will be a range of children's activities at the museum, a brass band and a steam traction engines will be on hand to keep everyone entertained.

The new station, and 645 metre loop extension, represents a major investment by the CWR in this fantastic miniature railway at the Coate Water Country Park.

Each year the railway carries over 25,000 passengers and the loop extension to the museum is a near doubling of the railway's network and a major boost to this popular museum.

Swindon175 Project Manager, Caroline Black said: "This part of the town is a real treasure with the beautiful country park, the railway and of course the Richard Jefferies Museum. We are delighted to be supporting this event as part of Swindon175 as we celebrate the town's heritage"

Kenneth Parker, Chairman of the CWR said: "The loop extension and station sees 4 years of hard work and planning come to fruition. This is a very proud day for the CWR."

The museum is situated on the edge of the beautiful country park and just 2 minutes from the family friendly Sun Inn.

Caroline Black continued: "The Grand Opening will be a fantastic family day and we hope to draw new visitors to this beautiful part of town and join in the celebrations. Come along and bring a picnic."
