New College Celebrate Children in Need Fundraising Total

Students and staff at New College Swindon have raised over one thousand pounds for Children in Need this year.

The Student Exec helped encourage students and staff to wear yellow and make a donation, whilst staff came up with team ideas to help boost the fundraising total.

Two members of staff from the IT team braved it and decided to have their legs waxed in front of everyone in the main foyer. Another member of staff from the CIS team had his head shaved after growing his hair for a whole year.

Different departments around the College arranged bake sales, fancy dress, crazy hair styles, hand-made Christmas jumpers and games such as guessing the amount of sweets in the jar.

Mandy Hamilton, Enrichment Co-ordinator at New College said: “It was great to see the students getting involved and very well done to Zoe Chapman, our NCExec student rep, who did a first class job in promoting this event. The number of staff who played their part was exceptional. So many of them supported the day by being prepared to do something silly and zany to raise money for this very worthy cause.”
