HND Students Graduate From New College

The first ever cohort of students have graduated from the HND programme at New College Swindon.

Higher Education students, along with their family and friends gathered at the New College Higher Education Graduation Event to celebrate the students’ success.

Higher National Diplomas (HNDs) and Higher National Certificates (HNCs) are work-related qualifications designed to equip students with the knowledge, understanding and skills required for a particular vocational area. They emphasise ‘learning by doing’ and the course is mainly coursework based, involving no examinations.

They’re valued by employers all over the world, and can also count towards membership of professional bodies and other employer organisations. HNCs and HNDs can also be converted to a Bachelor’s degree with extra study.

New College boasts a wide range of HNDs from a range of different industries including:  Art & Design, Textiles, Photography, Computing, Business, Early Years, Health & Social Care, Performing Arts, Public Services and Sport. 

Programme Leader of the Public Services HND at New College, Lynn Wilkinson, commented: “The graduation event at New College celebrated the hard work of all our higher education students over two years. The grades were exemplary over a diverse range of subjects including Public Services, Health and Social Care, Early Years, Business Studies and IT.  The dedication of the students; the diligence and support offered at New College made for a very successful evening.  “

Santo Basone, New College’s HE Coordinator, commented: “We are absolutely delighted to see our first cohort of HND students graduate from New College. Our students have worked incredibly hard to get to this point and many of them have faced real obstacles during their study. Some are going on to study top ups for full degrees and others are going straight into jobs.  We wish them all the best in their future careers and we know that they will do really well as they have been committed, hardworking and enthusiastic. “
