Ty Belford posts emotive statement following release from Swindon Town
Goalkeeper Ty Belford has today been released from Swindon Town in order to join Oxford City, and he has described his time at SN1 as "fantastic".
Belford was predominantly used as Swindon's back-up goalkeeper to first Wes Foderingham and then Lawrence Vigouroux, but he did get to make 22 appearances for the Red and White.
This year, youth academy goalkeeper Will Henry was promoted to the first team as cover for Vigouroux and Belford was loaned to Conference National side Southport.
That was ended early though and Swindon have now terminated the stopper's contract to allow him move to Oxford City in the Conference South so that Belford can move on to develop his career.
“I want to say a massive thank you to Swindon Town Football club for the past three-and-a-half seasons", Belford's statement began.
“I have got a lot of fond memories from my time with the club including making my league debut and the opportunity of going to Wembley with my elder brother, Cameron.
"I’ve had many other memories along the way and the support I have personally been shown at the football club has been nothing short of fantastic.
“I want to say thank you to all the players and staff that I have worked with over the years and it has been an absolute pleasure.
“I would like to also say a massive thank you to the fans who have been brilliant with me throughout my time at the club.
“My priority now is to play football games and to do that I have to part ways with the football club.
“I wish you all the very best for the rest of the season and the future and I will be keeping my eye on your results.
