Oxford United's Liam Sercombe accuses Swindon Town of a lack of discipline

Liam Sercombe, who scored the first of Oxford's two goals on Sunday, has labelled Swindon's discipline levels a "shambles".

At the time of writing, Swindon are toing and froing on whether to appeal a second-half red card to goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, who was also sent off in the reverse fixture, as was Lloyd Jones while Nathan Thompson gave away a penalty.

Jones, Fankaty Dabo, James Brophy, Ben Gladwin and Luke Norris were all also given yellow cards on Sunday too which means that Swindon had six players booked and/or sent off during the match and they were fined £2,500 (the price for League One clubs) according to FA guidelines.

Swindon were also fined £10,000 this season after they threatened to control their players in the 0-0 draw at AFC Wimbledon.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, Sercombe said: “They are an absolute shambles with their discipline.

"I don’t know what they’re doing, it’s happened so many times, especially their keeper.

“If they want to carry on doing that then we’ll just carry on beating them.”

At full-time, Oxford striker Chris Maguire wound up Town fans by fist-bumping in front of them and doing a crying gesture in the direction of Nathan Thompson.

There were also accusations of the ex-Sheffield Wednesday forward spitting at one Town player, Luke Williams was told, but those reports are unconfirmed.

Oxford boss Michael Appleton was also seen with a cut under his eye but refused to comment on whether that was due to a fracas in the dugout post-match.
