Wildcats Qualify for The South Cup Semi Finals

Swindon Wildcats are delighted to confirm that their NIHL South Cup Semi Finals will be played on the 2nd/3rd February against the Basingstoke Bison. The other semi-final will be between the Peterborough Phantoms and the Bracknell Bees. With the winners of each meeting in the final.

As a result of Swindon Wildcats finishing second in the NIHL South Cup group the Wildcats will be taking on Ashley Tait and his men in a battle which will be a repeat of the 2018 Autumn Cup final held back in March.

The first leg for the Wildcats will be held at the Better Link Centre on Saturday 2nd February before the second leg will be held in Basingstoke on Sunday 3rd. After two meetings already this year, a 4-1 win at the link and a shootout loss on the road in Basingstoke it promises to be a really tight semi-final, one in which Head Coach Aaron Nell is looking forward to.

“Games with us and Basingstoke are always close, obviously the Autumn Cup final were two fantastic games of cup hockey and hopefully these will be too. Basingstoke are a team we haven’t played too much but the next game with them is this coming Friday.

Hopefully, it’ll be another packed out crowd on the Saturday and we can have a good start and by the end of the weekend we’ll hopefully be in the final.”
