Travelling STFC fans to receive special scarves for Coventry trip

Local Swindon business Excalibur have teamed up with Swindon Town Football Club Trust to provide fans with a special token of thanks, for this weekend's away fixture at Coventry City.

One hundred young fans will receive a free, special edition scarf for Swindon Town’s trip to the Midlands, thanks to the combinative Excalibur and Trust STFC.

As part of the Trust’s #5ktoCoventry initiative – which intends to take a mammoth travelling Red Army to the Ricoh Arena on March 19 – a one-off scarf design has been commissioned.

The Trust are aiming to create a Kop-like feel in the away end for the League One clash and, thanks to financial backing from local communications experts Excalibur, a lucky few young supporters will be able to raise club colours above their heads prior to kick-off.

Excalibur chief executive James Phipps said: “I’m delighted that Excalibur have been able to play a part in Trust STFC’s 5k to Coventry initiative.

“As a Swindon supporter, I believe it’s vital that the next generation of fans are inspired and encouraged to follow the club home and away. This idea is a great start.

“Children and families are a big part of community football clubs like our own and it’s important to recognise the role they play.

“The Trust should be applauded for putting the 5k to Coventry initiative together, particularly given the fact the team need the extra support to push them towards the play-offs, and I’m happy that Excalibur can help in some way.

“Hopefully, those children who are making their first trip away from the County Ground on March 19 will take home an experience which will lock in their enthusiasm for the club for the long term.
“It should be a terrific day.”

Almost 1,000 tickets have already been sold for the trip to the Ricoh, with Coventry making up to 5,000 available to Swindon fans.

To book your tickets, contact the STFC box office by visiting www.eticketing.co.uk/swindontown, calling 08718761993 or visiting the store in person.

Online prices are £2 cheaper for adult, senior and young adult tickets, while under 16 tickets are £1 more expensive when purchased in store on over the phone.

The match is all ticket and sales in Swindon will cease at 4pm on Friday, March 18.
