Transfer analysis: Jak McCourt

A busy transfer window for Town has so far seen the club sign six players on various loan and purchase deals, with eleven players going out the exit door. But with Swindon fans aiming for a bounce back to League One, what can be expected from the talented midfielder?

Beginning his career with Premier League hotshots Leicester City in 2013, the defensive minded midfielder has endured a career of unsettlement having played for seven different clubs in the past five seasons. 

Playing for Chesterfield last season, the midfielder comes to the County Ground with strong knowledge of playing in League Two, and will only add to Phil Brown’s wealth of choice in the midfield department.

With a range of passing and defensive skills at his disposal along with having an eye for the odd wonder goal, as per his long-range strike against Swindon in their home draw against Chesterfield last season, McCourt’s addition complements an already talented looking engine room for the upcoming campaign. 

His ability to adapt to numerous midfield positions makes him a key figure in the dressing room, however his role in Chesterfields relegation will be of some concern to Swindon fans.

A difficult season awaits, but the arrival of McCourt helps make the dream of promotion a realistic possibility.
