Total Swindon Sport Nominated for Prestigious Media Award

Total Sport has been recognised twice on the list of nominees for the EDF South West Media Awards 2015.

At just nine months old, www.totalswindonsport.com is included on the five-strong shortlist for ‘Website of the Year’ for the region, while joint head of sport Sam Morshead is on a three-person shortlist for the ‘Digital Journalist of the Year’ gong.

Since its inception in September 2014, originally in the guise of Swindon Link Sport, Total Sport has reached over 100,000 unique users, receiving a total of almost 1.7million page impressions to date.

It will compete against Bristol 24/7, the Bristol Post, FLIC Wiltshire and soglos.com for the award, which will be handed out at a ceremony in Taunton on Thursday, July 16.

Total Guide To director Liz Ledger was delighted by the news, saying: “To be named on a shortlist for a major regional award less than a year into the project is wonderful news for everyone who has worked on Total Sport and shows that we are quickly making a name for ourselves in this particular field. We're constantly re-investing in Total and pushing the boundaries and Total Sport is a prime example of why. 

“It’s testament to all the hard work undertaken by all involved and we’re looking forward to the event next month and, hopefully, having something more to celebrate.”

Morshead’s nomination for the ‘Digital Journalist of the Year’ category is his second in three years; Total Sport’s Swindon Town writer won the same award back in 2013.

“It’s always nice to be recognised for your work and, having launched a new project from scratch over the past few months, this means a little bit more,” he said.

Morshead faces competition from Richard Booth of the Express & Echo and the North Devon Journal’s Joseph Wilkes for the prize.
