This team can do anything it wants to do, says Grajczonek

Following a double header of speedway defeats to Leicester Lions and Wolverhampton Wolves last week, Total Sport caught up with Josh Grajczonek to discuss what has been going wrong with the Robins' recent form.

Speaking after the recent meeting against Wolverhampton at the Abbey, Grajczonek admits that it was just a bad night for the Swindon riders, and one that they want to bounce back from as quick as possible.

“I don’t really know where to start,” Grajczonek admitted.

“We did everything right coming into the meeting.

“(Against Wolves) I wasn’t really making the starts that I wanted but was pulling off a couple of passes.

“It wasn’t good for us though and losing two meetings on the bounce doesn’t do the fans or us any good. But we will bounce back," he added.

With the Abbey track conditions being difficult on the night against Wolves, both sets of riders struggled to adjust to the ever-changing surface which required six track grading’s throughout the night. And Grajczonek agrees that the Wolves dealt with the track better.

“The Wolves boys come and rode what was in front of them,” Grajczonek explained.

“We didn’t expect the track to turn out what it was like.

“But we can’t dwell on that as we’ve all got to ride it. I think we all agree that there were problems in the corners.

“ Everyone had to ride the track though and you had to ride it different to what it’s normally like and there were a few holes out there," he added.

“I nearly wiped Freddie [Lindgren] out in heat fifteen but managed to pull the bike up and avoid him.

“It’s tough though. Wolves are a good team but at the same time we can’t afford to come and lose home meetings like that," he said.

Massive emphasis has been put on team unity this season within the Swindon squad, and despite the loss Josh Grajczonek insists that there are no problems and everyone is getting along great.

“We all get along great in this team,” Grajczonek stated.

“We all know what we’ve got to do though and we don’t come here to score one or two points.

“We all know what we want to do and we just need to get ahead and get some fresh air,” Grajczonek added.

After struggling for speed against the Leicester Lions on Wednesday night, the Australian heat leader appeared to be a different rider against the Wolverhampton Wolves and insisted that it was down to a bike change.

“I changed bikes coming into tonight," Grajczonek admitted.

“I rode my wrong bike for the first three rides on Wednesday night and I was getting beat up a bit going into the first turn.

“Rosco fired me up a bit and after a bike change I was out in front for my fourth race and got a good win. But unfortunately it was too late,” he said.

A tough next meeting sees the Swindon Robins entertain the Belle Vue Aces at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday evening and Grajczonek insists that it is the perfect opportunity for the Robins to bounce back.

“We can definitely bounce back and this team can do anything it wants to do,“ said Grajczonek.

“We can’t dwell on meetings that don’t go well for us and we’ve got to bounce back to winning ways as soon as we can.

“We’ve got to put these meetings behind us and just ride through them," he added.
