Swindon Town manager David Flitcroft unhappy the local media "alert other teams" about the club's weaknesses

Swindon Town manager David Flitcroft expressed his upset at the local media following the Robins' win over Port Vale.

Swindon battled to a 3-2 win over Port Vale but both of the goals they conceded were via Vale set-pieces, just a few days after Wycombe got a last-minute winner with a goal from a corner.

Crucial set-pieces goals have also been conceded against the likes of Newport and Lincoln (both home and away for the latter) which suggests Swindon have a problem in that area.

When that point was put to manager David Flitcroft by the BBC during his post-match press conference, the manager replied:

"Nah, it's not a concern. We'll all get excited about it again, I'm sure the press and everyone will get excited about it again and throw the stats around.

"But we haven't conceded one over the time, it's not something that's worrying me, it's something we'll move on very quickly [from].

"I think the more that you guys keep alerting to teams, keep letting them know, it's something we will have to manage but we've managed it really well.

"We've gone semi-zonal and no-one's brought it up yet, you've not brought it up yet that we've done well off them but that's what I expect now, I expect that.

"Every sort of negative thing in Swindon comes out and that's what I see from the press - not many pats on the back when this group of players does well but they're fighting tooth and nail for the supporters and the town, they're giving everything they've got."

This is Flitcroft's second swipe at the media, after he called for more respect from the town's local press following a 2-1 win at Yeovil, claiming "there is a short-termism" to the press in the area.

Swindon lost three games in a row after the Yeovil match, but as a result of the Vale win, they have now won five home games on the bounce.
