Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams firmly believes Will Henry is of strong character

Swindon Town head coach Luke Williams is in little doubt that goalkeeper Will Henry will not be fazed by his error in the Sheffield United defeat.

Henry, who this season has been deputy to regular goalkeeper Lawrence Vigouroux, started on Tuesday night as Vigouroux is one of three players named by Luke Williams that have not shown the required fight and desire he is after as the club battle against relegation.

Swindon went 2-0 down early on against the Blades, neither goal conceded could be blamed on Henry, but after Town pegged it back to 2-2 Henry did make a costly error, a pass straight to Jay O'Shea, that led to United's third of four goals.

Sheffield United's fourth came via a penalty, that Charlie Colkett gave away, but the game was pretty much out of sight by then.

Williams stood by Henry in the post-match press conference though, stating that the 18-year-old youth academy graduate is "talented" but still "needs to learn".

"The boys want to play and then, once you get there, you have to take the opportunity and there's no hiding place," Williams said.

"We know the boy's really talented, he had a fantastic debut and some good games and he needs to learn."

A number of Swindon players then had their desires questioned by Williams, but he said this certainly does not apply to Henry - a goalkeeper always willing to learn his trade more.

"I am questioning everything at the moment but my belief is that Will is a very strong character. He demonstrates every day that he's taking care of his own career and he wants to do well because every day he's out early to train, every day he's prepared, every day he wants to know more and asks more questions.

"I've got every reason to believe he's got the drive and the strength of character to overcome what was a very difficult game for him tonight. I've got full confidence.

"Like I've said, I've got so many things, so many people's character wrong, but I think Will Henry, unless again I've made a completely wrong assumption, desperately wants to be a professional goalkeeper and have a long career"

Williams is not yet sure if Vigouroux will be used again this season following his indiscretion so, currently, there is no clarification on whether Henry will be in goal at Bradford on Saturday.
