Rushian Hepburn-Murphy thinks Swindon need more consistency to challenge for the play-offs

Rushian Hepburn-Murphy said that Swindon need to find more consistency if they are to truly challenge for promotion after their 2-1 defeat against Walsall. Total Sport’s Joe Acklam spoke to the forward after the match.

Swindon had taken the lead through Ellis Iandolo, but set piece goals in stoppage time of both halves from Tom Knowles and Manny Monthe leave Town with just one win in six.

Hepburn-Murphy couldn’t work out what had gone wrong for Town, but they needed to get these things right if they are to achieve their aims this season.

He said: “I am not too sure [what went wrong] to be honest. I think the lads are the same, we are not too sure what happened in the game.

“[The last ten minutes] are a difficult one to touch on, they gained a bit of momentum towards the end of the game and we just kind of died out.

“It is a difficult one to take, but I don’t even know what to say to that question [on why Swindon fell away at the end.]

“We do need consistency if you want to be up there challenging for promotion or the play-offs.

“We need to find that consistency and find a way to get that consistency as a team and we will be in training tomorrow analysing how we go forward from here.”

Hepburn-Murphy also said that he feels physically better than before, but is still wary of trying to take on too much too soon.

He said: “I feel very good to be fair, it is just trying not to push it too much and break down again and just take it step by step.

“The first injury that I got whilst I was here, I felt perfectly fine, but I had been out for two years and there is a difference between feeling fine and actually being fine.

“I do feel fine and I just need to relax a little bit and then hopefully I will be able to play for a bit longer and getting towards a start before long.

“I am raring to go and I really want to be out there, but I know that it is for the best in the long run for my health and my fitness if I am patient.

“We have three games this week and the gaffer is going to need bodies so whenever he needs me I will be ready to play.

“My only target is to be playing regular football and hopefully my performances and training warrant a start once I am ready and then the goals will come after.”
