PREVIEW: YEOVIL TOWN V SWINDON TOWN

SWINDON TOWN will look to make amends for last weekends 1-2 home defeat against Bury as they travel West to face Yeovil in Saturday’s League Two kick-off. TotalSport Swindon’s Ryan Walker previews the upcoming action.

Contrasting recent results see both sides come into today's match on the back of opposite forms. Swindon will be searching to bounce back to winning ways after suffering their first home defeat of the season.

Whilst Yeovil Town will be full of confidence following their fantastic six-nil away win over Newport in their last outing.

Last weekend’s shock loss saw Town drop to 14th in the League Two table, and today arguably provides the Robins with their toughest opponent of the season so far. Whilst the SN1 club have managed to earn themselves a mediocre -1 goal difference, Yeovil has excelled in both attack and defence.

Conceding only three goals this campaign whilst scoring fifteen has seen Darren Way and his squad rocket up the league standings to 5th in the table, having played one match less than Swindon as well.

However, despite the difference in class between the two sides so far this season, the statistics don’t make for entirely bad reading for Swindon fans. Town was unbeaten against today’s opposition last season and even won the away fixture 1-2 at Huish Park, with Keshi Anderson scoring the winning goal.

But don’t be fooled by previous results too much. Today’s matchup puts pressure on Town to perform as Phil Brown seeks to take his side further up the table. Swindon were tipped as possible league favourites at the start of the season, and so far the team have failed to deliver on these expectations.

Luke Woolfenden and Sid Nelson are expected to once again start in the centre-back pairings, and the two youngsters will need to be at their best if they’re to stop Yeovil’s attacking unit.

Alex Fisher is the host's top scorer with four goals this season already, but with four of the team's players having scored two or more goals already this season, it’s evident that Yeovil is a side with multiple goal threats.

In contrast, STFC have had to rely on Michael Doughty and Elijah Adebayo to provide the goals with the duo having found the back of the net seven times between them.

Team news for Swindon sees Lawrence Vigouroux expected to return to the starting XI, whilst Town boss Phil Brown will be hopeful of having Doughty return to action after being left out the matchday squad due to an injury last weekend. Kyle Knoyle remains sidelined due to suspension whilst Kaiyne Woolery, Chris Robertson, Dion Conroy, and Olly Lancashire are unavailable due to respective injuries.

Yeovil remains unbeaten at home in the League this season, and the onus will be on Swindon to attack from the off. Fans will be hoping to see Elijah Adebayo back in his most effective central striking position and strong link-up play between the midfield and attackers will be key to success.

Swindon won their last away trip but today’s opposition is a class above and Town will have to be at their very best if they are to bring any league points back to The County Ground.

Score prediction: Yeovil win 2-1
