PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Wrexham AFC v Swindon Town

Follow along live as Michael Flynn speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town travelling to Wrexham AFC in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from Beversbrook.

2:31PM

We are now officially calling it. The pre-match meeting ran a bit long and Khan has some other things to be getting on with.

1:52PM

We are waiting for Saidou Khan, but we will be an indeterminate amount of time.

1:42PM

I asked Flynn about letting the game be a basketball game and his favourite TV subscription service:

  • The games have been two quite different ones so far and although I would like a more boring game, we want to send the fans home happy
  • I don't get a lot of time to watch stuff like that, my wife would say Prime (definitely a dig at Wrexham)
1:35PM

Michael Flynn on the Wrexham attack:

The way you are speaking it has 0-0 written all over it. They are strong all over, dangerous at set plays. We have done our homework and hopefully the players carry out their messages.

1:35PM

Michael Flynn on an early goal:

I don't think it will dent their confidence. They are used to outscoring teams, so they will think they can do that. It is more about how we react and don't give anything away and score again. I know we can get back into games as we have done that already.

1:34PM

Michael Flynn on the type of game:

I would love a nice and easy game, but they don't happen very often. They will be up for it as they won the other night. It is a good advert for League Two, I think. Two teams with different styles, but they are efficient machine with how they do things.

1:33PM

Michael Flynn on transfers:

I don't know about in range but I am still looking.

1:33PM

Michael Flynn on the crowd:

They are very loud and I will probably get stick being from Newport. If I was a player it would spur me on and make sure I played well. WE hope it is a good game and one we come out on top of. We are used to playing in front of that many at home. I am learning about my players as much as people as players.

1:31PM

Michael Flynn on Wrexham's publicity:

They do take a lot of it, but I don't think that is their fault. The EFL and broadcasters are trying to maximise their viewers and I think they need to not just put them on TV at every opportunity and try and help other clubs.

1:30PM

Michael Flynn on Wrexham:

They have a huge and very competitive squad. Parkinson was my manager at Bradford and I have a lot of respect for him. That knowledge they have will only benefit the team as they are under pressure with the publicity. They are a club on the up, spending money but they bring in a lot commercially. It is the best model I have seen because of everything they do in the community.

I think Wrexham needed that, it is something everyone in Welsh football and English football needs. If you can get that exposure then that would be great for everyone. I have nothing but compliments and admiration for what Rob and Ryan have done. As a Welshman it is nice to see them doing this.

1:28PM

Michael Flynn on Austin:

His performances have been good, but he will be disappointed not to have scored. I have no worries about that and once he does the goals will flow. He is probably in the best shape for five or six years.

1:28PM

Michael Flynn on his LWBs:

I think one or two need to get fitter. It is tough to do that right now and it will take time. Those who did pre-season look very fit and everyone else is playing catch up. Whilst we are working them hard we need to be sure no one breaks down.

1:27PM

Michael Flynn on his style:

We want to play football and excite the supporters. Swindon have a reputation for playing football. You have to do your due dilligence on the club you are going to of the community. We all want to see the team play in the right way and we have some very good technical players to do that.

1:26PM

Michael Flynn on areas for improvement:

Taking our chances, decision making in the final third, and all that comes with that. I want to start keeping clean sheets, but there have been a lot of positives. The way we are playing, the work ethic and the press. I am more than happy with where we are at.

1:25PM

Michael Flynn on injuries:

One fresh concern and there will be a couple back. I won't say who as I am not helping Wrexham do their preparation.

1:23PM

Good afternoon one and all. A busy week with two away fixtures continues as Swindon travel to face Disney + AFC, I mean Wrexham. We will be with Michael Flynn shortly.
