PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon v Walsall

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town hosting Walsall in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

2:44PM

That is all from Sol Brynn. We will be back on Monday for the game.

2:43PM

Sol Brynn on Boro's communication:

They just want me to keep going and improving.

2:43PM

Sol Brynn on the team's performance:

It has been up and down, but I feel like we have been good. We need to play quicker at times, but generally well. Mildy has done a lot of work with us on set pieces, and we feel very comfortable with it. It is about desire more than size, and we have been doing well with it.

I want 15 to 20 clean sheets and then promotion for the season. That is my goal. Next year I would like to be Middlesborough's number one from then and beyond.

2:41PM

Sol Brynn on his progression:

I am calmer, quicker decision making. I feel like I am getting better all around. I wanted to play in front of bigger crowds, so that has been great. Bigger crowds are good if we playing well, otherwise you block it out. When you get abuse, you just laugh as it is funny. It keeps you switched on, at Barrow with no fans behind it was unusual.

2:39PM

Sol Brynn on save vs Salford:

I think that game was important as I could show the fans what I could do. If I make a save then I am happy, the quality doesn't change much.

2:38PM

Sol Brynn on joining Swindon:

As soon as I heard I wanted to get it done. It is a massive club and looking at the way they played last season. As soon as I got here, you learn about the big history.

I enjoyed the battle with Ward, you always need that competition. It kicks you on.

2:37PM

Sol Brynn on last season:

I needed it. I played 23s for a few years and went with the first team as a third 'keeper. I just wanted the experience. It was different being on loan as it was direct and playing with men, you toughen up quickly. You don't get that with 23s.

League Two is better, but the Scottish Championship is better than most would think. It was good.

2:36PM

Sol Brynn on his youth:

I just went on a Saturday morning and enjoyed being a keeper, so I stuck with it. I played both til about 10 and then picked to play in goal as I was better at it.

I got picked up and then you realise you must have something.

2:32PM

Sol Brynn is here!

2:26PM

The big exclusive of today is that cauliflower IS traditional.

2:25PM

I asked Scott about Walsall being bottom for average possession and bringing on Dworzak:

  • Very confident that we will be able to punish them
  • He was terrific made a great impact and him stepping up was big for us
2:21PM

Scott Lindsey on Xmas dinner:

Turkey, pigs n blankets, stuffing, potatoes, parsnips, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, sprouts, gravy. I will be doing the cooking. I like doing it, I do it most sundays with a roast.

2:19PM

Scott Lindsey on consistency:

I think it is key, but with these players we are constantly working on things and about how we play. The more you do it, the more you should get consistency and that is why we do it. Teams make it hard, though and that can change things.

2:18PM

Scott Lindsey on the start:

Every game we approach similarly. It might not seem that way, but we want to attack quickly and have that fast start. You can win a game inside 20 mins, there is a lot more to it, but if you start well and get a goal then teams at this level or anywhere capitulate because they can't cope with it.

2:17PM

Scott Lindsey on Boxing Day:

I think what is important is that we perform and win. Those are the most important things. Some times it doesn't happen, but not for want of trying. We are working hard to prepare and hopefully for any new people, we hope to give them something to want to come back.

2:16PM

Scott Lindsey on Walsall:

They have a really experienced manager, they haven't played for a while, so I don;t know if that is good or bad. They are aggressive in how they play with a back three. They have really good corner routines, as ever with a Flynn team. They always have something different. Should be tough.

We work hard in training on how we play. Nothing has changed this week as three or four weeks ago.We are trying to improve and have come under fire about goals and I would invite any fan to come to the training ground and see our work on that.

2:14PM

Scott Lindsey on Christmas:

It is a difficult time as it is a busy period. We have a schedule that makes us well prepared and we won't be in on Xmas day. I trust them not to be silly, we don't have any huge drinkers or anything. If you ask them what they want to do, it will be having time with their family.

2:13PM

Scott Lindsey on Jephcott:

Again, it is ongoing situation. We are talking a lot behind the scenes. We would be keen but some things have to happen. He has had injuries but when he is on the pitch he has done well, so someone we would like to keep.

2:12PM

Scott Lindsey on January:

It is an ongoing process with the loans and we are constantly talking about what our squad will look like. We will have to wait and see when the window closes.

I think Brennan's loan is going quite well now. It had a slow start as he had that concussion and then we went on a run. He has now found himself in the team and has done well, but then he got ill. Bit stop start, but it is going well.

I think Austin is a difficult one as we have targets and it is not right for me to comment on specific players. He is a legend here and has had a great career. Is he someone we would want to sign? Of course, if we could then we would.

2:10PM

Scott Lindsey on social media:

I put trust in the players to make their own choices. I am not on social media and I don't look at it, so I don't know too much. Hopefully the older players can help but there has been no problem.

2:09PM

Scott Lindsey on Adeloye:

He has been fine. No forward likes to miss chances. I thought he did well when he came on and did the hard bit well before putting it in the net. Strikers miss chance and he will be fine. He is in a position where he comes off the bench and that is difficult, but he has made an impact in certain games and hopefully that continues.

There is no pressure on him from us, we want him to enjoy it and flourish in training and he does that. He came in late but gets all the love and attention he might need. He has not had loads of game time and you hope he makes the impact when he comes on, but that is where he is.

2:07PM

Scott Lindsey on training:

It is difficult but we do the work anyway. We will continue to do that until Monday. We have still done the work even without some and those who are in the squad will have everything they need.

I don't think Barrow changed my faith, I had faith in them anyway. We have always believed in everyone and even with three or four missing we can still win games.

2:06PM

Scott Lindsey on injuries:

Still a challenge. Illness has gone through the camp so it is changing every day as we try and keep some away. Hopefully come kick-off we will be ready and at full strength. Ben Gladwin and Khan have been back in training.

2:04PM

Merry Christmas everyone. Swindon finally got a win and a goal last week means they are sat fourth in the table. Next up are the league's second form team in Walsall.
