PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon v Harrogate Town

Follow along with live updates as Jody Morris speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town's clash with Harrogate Town. Total Sports' Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

2:54PM

You can thank the fine people at GWR for me being late to start.

2:54PM

I then asked Iandolo about left-back:

  • You might have a chat with the manager about it, but if there injuries then you have to play where you are told. I thought I might be done with it after January, but the injuries mean I am back there.
2:52PM

The questions I asked to Morris was about the nervy finishes and Khan:

  • It is probably about nerves at the moment and hopefully if we can get some wins that will hopefully make those situations easier
  • It is very tough as he will be out for a while and he is so important to us
2:48PM

Ellis Iandolo on January:

I don't deal with that stuff, but I never intended to leave. I have been here for a long time and I want to do something special.

2:48PM

Ellis Iandolo on Salford:

WE needed it. We had a lot of changes in Jan and to get that after some tough games, it was nice to get three points. To get that belief and hopefully push on.

2:47PM

Ellis Iandolo on versatility:

I think it is a bit of a curse. You play a lot of games, but you get shifted around a lot. You get a run in midfield and you start thinking like a midfielder then suddenly you are in defence. That is quite hard, but I can only give what I can.

2:46PM

Ellis Iandolo on his game:

I feel good and fit. I am trying to make the best impression I can and give my best in training. Things have gone against us but the win was big and hopefully that gives us momentum.

2:46PM

Ellis Iandolo on suspensions:

I don't think teams are trying to provoke. I think we have been unlucky with RHM and what is going on with Khan. That is going to be tough as he is massive for us. Hopefully we can not have any more of that go against us.

2:45PM

Ellis Iandolo on the style:

I think there's a fine line between bravery and stupidity. He wants us to be brave and express ourselves. He has given us the licence to go and do that. At Salford the pitch was awful and it wasn't great at Newport. So that makes it about making decisions and he lets us do that.

2:44PM

Ellis Iandolo on Morris:

The first thing you notice is the intensity of training. It has moved up significantly. It might not be harder, but during the sessions of more intense. It is nice to come off the training pitch and think you have put in a lot of work.

I think it is difficult to implement your style too quickly. He wants us to play shorter passes and keep distances between players. Especially as a left-back it is about knowing when to stretch the distance or coming shorter.

2:42PM

Ellis Iandolo is now with us.

2:38PM

Jody Morris on training at the CG:

Just to help with travel. The fact where we train is further away and you can't leave your car there. If you can save 50 minutes on travel to Salford then that is good, but you also don't want to train on the match pitch. I think it is something we need to do as it is unavoidable.

2:36PM

Jody Morris on Williams:

He has taken part in training, so that is a conversation this afternoon about where he is and the risk factor. Officially he might be cleared to play and he is ticking boxes. Kadji is available too.

2:36PM

Jody Morris on Harrogate's defensive struggles:

For me if we can start like we did second half against Doncaster then that would be better. We started ok at Salford, but they score on the first attack. From a performance perspective it has to be how the game goes. If you talk about Doncaster we built from the back well, but forgot about attacking their goal at times. We need to be more aggressive, but with guile and method.

2:34PM

Jody Morris on pressure (which is famously for tyres):

I think the way it should be is you want to build on anything positive. There were positives to take, but you still need to regardless. The performance side is the best chance we have and we are looking for that. I don't think that because we beat Salford we are there. The best way to build confidence is backing up wins with the level of performance. For expectation, I expect us to attack and put teams under pressure.

2:32PM

Jody Morris on Harrogate:

I was talking with the staff about the first game of the season. They are in a tough spell, but so are we. Anyone coming here we should be looking to attack. We have to be prepared for what they are going to bring, but we have to focus on us as the best chance for us winning is working on ourselves. Challenges vary, but the best chance of overcoming them is to be our best selves.

2:31PM

Jody Morris on performing as he wants:

It could happen from the first minute. There were moments against Doncaster when we looked good. If we start right and keep improving on the ball and in creating chances. It could be one where we have a spell when it goes great and we go on a run, but you don't know.

2:30PM

Jody Morris on Minturn:

He is a young lad and you would rather give players opportunities when things are going great. He is doing ok, he has a lot to improve but we are looking at him and we might have to consider him.

2:29PM

Jody Morris on injuries:

It is good to have Tomlinson and Devine in training, but neither are ready. It was good to see how they have trained. Shade is looking better and better as he gets fitter, he still has work to do to do better in those sessions, but with a hamstring there is a risk. Hopefully he is closer to being able to do decent minutes.

Gutted for FBT, he is a leader and key. It is a pretty bad one, five or six weeks, which is another huge blow. It was nice to get the luck against Salford, but then losing two of your most important players is frustrating. FBT has done his medial, it is not as bad as it could be, but it is still a long time. The first few weeks he will be resting, but it will be a while.
