PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Swindon v AFC Wimbledon

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town hosting AFC Wimbledon in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

3:36PM

That is all from today, hopefully Saturday is better than the past few weeks.

3:32PM

I asked Scott Lindsey about getting on the end of crosses, if you can get out of the league playing like Swindon do, and the transfer window:

  • It is about having the aggression and desire to get on the end of balls
  • Don't respond to those who say you can't get out of League Two playing the way Swindon do
  • Early discussions with Sandro, all things other than wholesale changes on the table
3:27PM

Scott Lindsey on atmosphere:

I think it is always good to be around a positive environment. We try and create that as staff, even when we are losing we try and be jovial. Hopefully the crowd can bring.

3:27PM

Scott Lindsey on opportunities:

This is why we build a squad. We want strength in depth so when we do get these injuries we can respond. We work hard with the guys who aren't playing so they can step in.

3:26PM

Scott Lindsey on Wimbledon's run:

I am looking forward to the game, but hopefully it won't be open. We hope to control it. I would like to think we keep it tight and we don't give away too many chances.

3:25PM

Scott Lindsey on RHM:

In contention, played against Newport.

3:25PM

Scott Lindsey on Ben Garner:

I spoke to him the morning he went, and then he was sacked and we had another chat that evening. Disappointed for Ben, but he should do well in his next opportunity.

3:24PM

Scott Lindsey on Xmas party:

Are we still talking about Jonah? Next time I see him he will be on top of the pops.

3:24PM

Scott Lindsey on hospital visit:

The players were brilliant, it gives you a different look on how other's lives are, but it was good to go and the players were outstanding.

3:23PM

Scott Lindsey on the weather:

We couldn't get out today, so we had to train on 3g and we had to change what we were going to do. Is the game in doubt? We have covers on the pitch, so it should be fine.

3:22PM

Scott Lindsey on Wimbledon:

We are probably playing them at the wrong time. We know Josh Davidson well and they have good players around him. I liked him, he was great to work with and we took him on and he scored a lot of goals for him. He is a real handful and works hard, (lists a bunch of stuff he doesn't actually do well).

3:21PM

Scott Lindsey on his team:

I should know the team by tomorrow based on injuries, it has been tough with that. The mood is still good (classic Lindsey). It is never nice to lose and we are disappointed afterwards, but because of the players' attitude by Monday we are ready to go again.

3:20PM

Scott Lindsey on Williams:

He is back, disappointing for him not to come on, but he will be better for going out there. But great for him to be back fully fit. It is a shame we weren't great without him.

3:20PM

Scott Lindsey on injuries:

I made five changes, four of which for injuries. It is what it is and we have to get on with it.

Newport was good for players coming back from injury, it gave me an opportunity to look at those who haven't p;ayed so much. MacDonald got through 60 mins and is now in contention.

We did pick up some niggles, Baudry is having a scan today, so we should know more.

3:19PM

Scott Lindsey on Saidou Khan:

Better than he was, he actually got worse in the days after the game with dizziness. Very bad. He is better now, he's back in Swindon, but we have to go through the protocol where the medical team assess him every day and he should begin light training last week.

3:16PM

"Imminent" is the word we have been given, I promise I am not deliberately having you all on.

3:12PM

I think the wheels are now in motion for Lindsey to be in the next few minutes.

3:05PM

Also, all the players have supposedly left already, so we may or may not have one.

3:05PM

Lindsey is delayed with Gabriel Sutton and the EFL Debate show, so we are still waiting.

2:56PM

Good afternoon everyone, Swindon are three games without a win and two without a goal, but we keep plugging along as Wimbledon are in town (provisionally, it is rather nippy out there) this Saturday.
