Website 0330 002 1993That is all for today, I will be back tomorrow for the game.
I asked Brewitt about the potential to score more from set pieces:
Tom Brewitt on getting started:
The performance on Tuesday was so positive that we are looking to carry that forwards. The crowd have been really behind us so far and we want to carry that forwards.
Tom Brewitt on the defence:
Doakes has come in and done really well. Clayton getting injured left us thin, but Doakes has started well and it feels like a good fit with the three of us.
Tom Brewitt on his contract:
This always happens in the summer. I had really honest conversations with the gaffer and I was really excited to come back for pre-season. I think whenever any player is free, the agent has to make sure they are being looked after, but being at a big club like Swindon is usually going to be the best place to be.
We only had a few chats with the gaffer, but I have known people who have worked with him and they all said he would like me. It has started well and hopefully I can keep performing.
Tom Brewitt on a back three:
I have always preferred it as it suits my game and lets me step into midfield and do the things I want to do.
Tom Brewitt on Crewe:
It has been a long time coming. If the fans can bring the same energy we have had so far then it will be great. I think the style will really excite them and that will help. We are going to play, that is clear from the games we have had. Hopefully we can run a few teams off the park and we can make the CG a fortress.
Tom Brewitt on P'boro:
Really good performance. Playing a team that will be up the top of a higher division will be tough. Before penalties we probably edged the game.
Tom Brewitt onUGM:
Doakes has the voice of an angel. We were all disappointed as were excited to get going, but Doakes cheered us up.
Tom Brewitt on Colchester:
We have played in worse, but the pitch couldn't handle it. The minute we went out to warm-up we knew we weren't going to play.
Tom Brewitt on Supermarine:
It is always nice to score and keep them out. Sometimes results didn't reflect the performance, like Bristol City, but it has been a great pre-season and hope to bring that in to the league.
Tom Brewitt on pre-season:
Tough. In a really good way. The gaffer has been really clear that we need to have a certain level of fitness and I think we are already seeing the benefits. WE have done lots of stuff.
I believe the idea is for Tom Brewitt to be the player, but he is having breakfast.
I asked about the confidence of Crewe and Anton Dworzak:
Michael Flynn on Mahoney:
He is outstanding. I have followed him for a long time, probably a good ten months. He is a great lad, great ability and his potential just gets bigger with every game. I am over the moon with him. He is there to make those saves and he did it. I am sure he will make mistakes, but I am more than confident in him.
Michael Flynn on RHM:
He has been fine. No issues other than a knock the other day, but there are no worries.
Michael Flynn on having a strong start:
In an ideal world we would win ten in a row. Let's concentrate on tomorrow, that is what I am doing and then take each as it comes. They are coming thick and fast, it is relentless and let's keep grounded and keep believing in the process.
Michael Flynn on fans:
It depends where we finish. It is good to have expectations, if you don't aim for the top you won't reach it. There are always ups and downs, Leyton Orient had them last year. We have to be consistent with what we are doing and have luck with injuries, then we can be up there. This early everyone has a chance and that will never change. The passion, the camaraderie, the rivalries is what makes the game the best.
Michael Flynn on scoring at the CG:
For Huddersfield. I was going back to Wales after that so it was a good weekend. But let's hope I am cheering for us scoring there this weekend and we get the three points.
Michael Flynn on playing at the CG:
I think they will appreciate the CG more. I am excited and my family are coming and hopefully the players rise to the occasion. The fans can help by getting behind us and geing vocal. I would love to have a cigar out by 70 minutes, but it doesn't work like that. We have to make sure we take our principles into the game and we will improve.
Michael Flynn on Crewe:
They are always tough to play against, the manager knows the club inside out. They have gone more experienced than in previous years and they also have talent. Anybody who thinks it will be a walkover may be mistaken. I will make sure the players know it will be tough and they will have to outwork them and outplay them.
What they line-up with, I am not sure. They can flip it around but they probably changed it against Mansfield as they were down to ten.
Michael Flynn on getting players fit:
That is the tough part and why sports science is crucial. We worked them very hard on Wednesday, we tried to get some distance in their legs and we have to do that when we can. If they have a day off then they should be doing whatever they can to be fit.
Michael Flynn on Tuesday:
I thought we were brilliant. I watched it back and we played extremely well. We had the better chances but we need practice on penalties.
RHM has been in hot form all pre-season and he has been very good and will only get better as I will be on him every day.
Michael Flynn on his squad:
It will be one or two more. Because of the two injuries we would ideally like more, but it is what it is.
WE have Genesini on the right deal, he is going to improve and he is very versatile. He has played all over already and you need players like that. Let's hope he hits the ground running and gets a run in the team.
I hope nobody leaves, there is nobody I would let go but there might be one or two who are frustrated but at the minute no.
Michael Flynn on injuries:
McEachran is fine and over his illness. Cain was on lighter duties as we didn't want anything else to flare up. I think he is fine. I would say the Wrexham game would be fine for Shade.
Crewe are yet to win a football match this season, but did come out on the other side of a penalty shoot-out when they knocked Sunderland out of the Carabao Cup this week after earning a creditable draw against Mansfield Town.
Good morning everyone. I am sat in a small sports hall at Beversbrook waiting for the press conference for the first home game of the season to begin. Swindon Town kick-off their league campaign by facing undefeated Crewe Alexandra at the County Ground.
