PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Forest Green Rovers v Swindon Town

Follow along live as Michael Flynn speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town travelling to Forest Green Rovers in League Two. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from Beversbrook.

12:21PM

That is all from today, but we will be back rather soon.

12:21PM

I asked Hutton about playing under Flynn

  • He trusts me to be the outball and be a big part of things in attack. I am enjoying it so far.
12:19PM

Remeao Hutton on small grounds:

I enjoy playing in front of bigger crowds like SWindon and Bradford. You hear more of what they say about you, I heard that at Peterborough, but it drives you on to play better. I don't think there is a big difference, sometimes you don't hear them as you are focused.

12:17PM

Remeao Hutton on FGR:

You always wonder at the start about how they are going to play. Apart from that we just need to focus on ourselves. There have been surprises, but Stockport started slow last season. I don't look at the table until January.

12:16PM

Remeao Hutton on his crossing:

I had a spell at Stevenage where I was out of the team and I worked on it in my own time. I am working on different types of crossing. People want to talk about defending and I want to improve there too, but the gaffer is helping me. I want to develop one-v-one as I am playing higher up. Pressing from the front is something we are trying to do here so if teams play out from the back then we can win the ball higher up.

12:15PM

Remeao Hutton on UGM:

He does attack the space well and that allows me to find more space. I think the right side should be very adventurous.

12:15PM

Remeao Hutton on his start:

I think I could do better, but you can't be your best every time. I like playing with width and getting crosses in. It takes time to get used to and getting to know Doakes and Kemp.

12:14PM

Remeao Hutton on last season hangover:

I think it is a one off and we need to focus on FGR. If we win that then no one will speak about Saturday.

12:14PM

Remeao Hutton on the start:

I think we did well. WE have got some good additions and we will only get stronger as we get to know each other. WE just needed to see the game out and it feels like two points dropped.

12:02PM

Remeao Hutton will be with us when he is ready.

12:01PM

I asked Flynn about the high number of shots Swindon have had so far and the outside centre-backs:

  • I would rather we scored a few more goals from them, but it shows we are doing the right things
  • We did this at Newport before and it suits the players we have. It felt like we reinvented the wheel at one points as we had Doakes playing right centre-back who was basically playing right wing
11:55AM

Michael Flynn on getting his first win:

It will come and once it does it will be even sweeter. I knew this would be a tough start with all the away games but I am not too concerned.

11:54AM

Michael Flynn on UGM:

They are trending in the right direction. THey have a good bond already. I spoke to a few after the game and gave them some home truths, but they reacted well and that tells me that they want to do the right things. PLayers these days can not look in the mirror and think it is someone else's fault, but these lads didn't do that.

11:53AM

Michael Flynn on players playing their old clubs:

For me as a manager you have to take the emotion out of it. I have no reservations about that at all. I thought Doakes was excellent on the weekend and Young has been there. If anything they should be familiar with the surroundings.

11:52AM

Michael Flynn on FGR:

Inniss and Stevens are two hard working lads. Matty knows where the back of the net is and Ryan is the life and soul of the dressing room. I am looking forward to seeing them both, but I am hoping it is wishing them well after we have won.

I don't know Horseman, but it is good to see him coming in and bringing his ideas to FGR. We will ahve to defend better and take 10% more of those chances we created then we should score a few. It is a brilliant ground as it is quite tight and not the most vocal from the home crowd. I am sure now I have said that they will be louder. The away fans have been very good there for me and I hope it continues. Swindon having not lost there is a good omen and let's hope it stays that way.

11:50AM

Michael Flynn on big squads:

I think it helps teams with big squads, but they are small advantages. We have to believe our playing style and togetherness is out advantage.

11:49AM

Michael Flynn on medical advancements:

I think we will have to do more rotation. I think on average you play an extra 16 minutes a game and we are supposed to be looking after players. I think it will increase injuries and will cause fitness injuries. I am not the law maker, maybe something like a rugby stopped clock would have been better.

11:48AM

Michael Flynn on signings:

I am hopeful for this week but I am not very far down the line on anybody. It is crucial to get someone in as it is a gruelling season. We are picking up little injuries and niggles, we have had afew illnesses and it hits you. The likes of Ward has come in and had a back spasm after ten minutes and Uwakwe and Young aren't up to full fitness. We will get on with it and be patient with what we need to do to be successful.

11:47AM

Michael Flynn on Crewe:

For large parts we were excellent but the bottom line is we conceded two poor goals. I thought we were sloppy at times and we are better than that. It gives the opposition some belief and momentum but for large parts we were very good.

11:46AM

Michael Flynn on RHM:

The way he has been, he is full on confidence and is listening to what we want from him. WE missed him on Saturday as he makes us stronger, but he gives somebody else the chance to step up.

11:45AM

Michael Flynn on injuries:

Wakeling is sore still, so he will be a doubt. RHM depending on what we can do with him today might be back, but that is a big might.

Wakeling hasn't broken anything, it is just some swelling.

11:44AM

Hello everyone. We are in position at Beversbrook and will be starting imminently.
