PRESS CONFERENCE LIVE: Bristol Rovers v Swindon

Live updates as Scott Lindsey speaks to the press ahead of Swindon Town heading to Bristol Rovers in the EFL Trophy. Total Sport's Joe Acklam reports live from the press conference.

1:31PM

That is all from today, as usual no players on Monday press conferences.

1:22PM

My questions were about if the game if like a friendly and thoughts on the 3pm blackout:

  • Definitely not as we have that competitive edge
  • Against anything that would compromise attendances
1:18PM

Scott Lindsey on what he wants from the game:

I want to see them play well as individuals and as a team. I know there have been changes, but you can see the pattern of how I want to play. I would like to see that again even from those who haven't been playing as it shows that they are understanding training and then making my decisions for league games more difficult.

1:16PM

Scott Lindsey on it being a derby:

I think it maybe does change things and I might need to speak about it before the game and remind them of that. I am sure they are fully aware anyway and everyone wants to win derbies.

1:16PM

Scott Lindsey on standards:

I think once you are out there and the whistle goes, game mode switches on straight away, it doesn't matter what the game is. I know for a fact the players have that attitude to do everything properly because I see it every day. I have no idea what Rovers will bring, they are three unbeaten in the league so they are doing well, but what kind of team they pick is tough to know.

1:13PM

Scott Lindsey on Aguiar:

I think he has had a slow start to the season but I have seen real improvements in the last two weeks. I said to him on Friday he was really close to the team and he is in a really good place. He needs to keep going and improving and make it difficult for me not to pick him.

1:12PM

Scott Lindsey on Reed:

He will be in the squad. With any player when you are being left out there are levels of frustration, but he has been a good pro and has gone about things well. Khan gives us something different and has been one of our better players since he came in. Reed will definitely be involved moving forwards and he is a big part of setting the environment.

I speak to all my players about how I feel they need to improve, so he knows what we need to do and I know he will do so. We have a squad for a reason.

1:09PM

Scott Lindsey on loans:

Minturn and Cowmeadow can be involved, and obviously Parsons as we have spoken about.

1:08PM

Scott Lindsey on motivating:

We prepare how we normally would, so everything stays the same and that is good for them as these players will be excited to be playing when they haven't so much this season. If I was playing then I would be excited to get out there.

I think we have a clear way of playing so I will be looking at how they understand our patterns of play and how ready they are. Often in football you don't have a sniff and then suddenly you are in, look at MacDonald.

1:07PM

Scott Lindsey on team news:

Harries is available again following suspension. Adeloye is fit to be involved but his minutes will be monitored.

I think the team I have picked I am looking forward to watching them play as it is vital that they play, so I am looking forward to the game.

12:55PM

Swindon have already been eliminated having lost their opening two group stage matches, which in many ways is a positive, and head to the Memorial Stadium with nothing on the line.

We already know Tomi Adeloye is in line for a return and while likely be used from the bench and Harry Parsons is likely to play having returned from his loan spell at Banbury Town.

12:51PM

Good afternoon everyone. The EFL Trophy is back and more pointless than ever as Swindon are already eliminated heading into their final game against Bristol Rovers. We will be speaking to Scott Lindsey shortly so stay tuned.
