Obika And Ajose Make League One Team Of The Week
Town duo Obika and Ajose star as the forward duo in the League One team of the week released today, following their heroics in Swindon's resurgent 4-2 comeback against Southend.
The in-form front men stole the show as the Robins ran rampant in the second half, hitting four goals past the Shrimpers to claim all three points.
Ajose reacted fastest to stab home Town's first goal of the day, sending murmurs of optimism across the home fans.
As the heavens began to open and the rain lashed down Obika would soon put the men in red level, after latching on to a Yaser Kasim cross to send a delicate finish past Southend 'keeper Daniel Bentley into the bottom left corner.
Obika's second was a work of mastery, with temporary first team manager Luke Williams comparing it to that of former Chelsea icon Didier Drogba.
Obika bounded forward with the ball on the break, surging from his own half through the defence and leaving the opposition in his wake before slotting the ball home.
Swindon completed the rout after Ajose burst through on the counter-attack, following intense Southend pressure in the dying moments. The pint-sized forward kept his composure to bear down upon Bentley in the opposition goal and cooly slot his effort beneath the 22-year-old.
