Netminder Michael Crisp returns to Swindon Wildcats
Swindon Wildcats are now one step away from completing their 2016/17 roster after drafting in Michael Crisp as their back-up Netminder.
The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year deal and will provide useful cover for Stevie Lyle between the pipes.
Crisp needs no introduction to the Cats faithful having spent two seasons at the Link Centre between 2013 and 2015 - making eight appearances in total.
Wildcats Head Coach Aaron Nell was after the right player and character to fill the back-up goalie role, a mission he thinks he has accomplished with the return of Crisp.
"We are delighted that Michael has decided to return to Swindon this season," Nell told swindonwildcats.com.
"Michael is a great person to have in the dressing room and at the club.
"He will support Stevie Lyle when needed and he will learn a lot from Stevie throughout the season."
Crisp spent the 2015/16 campaign with the Cardiff Devils NIHL team, posting SVS% figures of .861 in 30 games.
But the chance to learn off Lyle and be part of a team that harbours aspirations of challenging for silverware was too good an opportunity to turn down for the Welshman.
"I'm happy to be back with Swindon this season - it's somewhere I honestly didn't want to leave so I'm grateful for the opportunity to return," Crisp said.
"I can gain a lot of experience playing alongside Stevie Lyle with his approach to the game. It's something I can learn a great deal from.
"To be on a team that can make the push for silverware with the impact signings we have made during the summer was also a big factor for me in coming back.
"I can't wait to get started!"
Michael becomes the 19th and penultimate signing of the off-season for the Wildcats, who now have just a British forward to add to their roster before September.
